  • Tiny Bits of Technology Can Produce Big Results!

    Funded Feb 17, 2011

Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful resource to our classroom. I cannot express the importance of technology to support student achievement.

Since the computer has arrived to our classroom, students have been able to use its features independently as well as in a group setting. There are many websites that we have used to support language arts, math, and social studies lessons. Students are not only able to access the internet on their own, but they are developing additional skills such as logging on/off, shutting the computer down and they are able to access many features in the accessories file. They really enjoy being able to paint and save their documents for later viewing. I am more than positive that students will be able to benefit greatly from the wonderful resource you provided.

Thank you so much for thinking of us and supporting our classroom project. We appreciate donors like yourselves who are committed towards education!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Woods

  • Capturing Moments In Education!

    Funded Nov 4, 2010

Thank you very much for providing a digital camera to our classroom. Thanks to your donation, every learning opportunity is a time to capture a moment in education. Whether it's during recess or specials classes (art, music, library), my students are always trying to take pictures of each other engaged in a lesson. Now that I have allowed students to share in classroom photographer duties, some have shown an interest in wanting to take pictures when they "grow up". They truly are a great bunch of learners.

In choosing the pictures to include in our thank you package, we decided to provide snapshots of some of our most recent school experiences. Last month we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday. We enjoyed being able to wear red and white based on the Cat and the Hat, and we also enjoyed reading and taking pictures of each other reading in groups. It was a truly great experience and our students enjoyed being able to see footage of themselves actually reading several Dr. Seuss books.

You'll also find the results of our science unit on plants. Although you are viewing the finished product, the documented process was extremely fun for my students. It's been three weeks since the unit has ended and students are still talking about using the camera to document the growth of the plants.

Reflecting on each of these experiences has allowed my students to not only remember the steps required in each learning process but to also cherish the fun moments that are shared in the classroom as well. Our next field trip is approaching and we'll be sure to have our digital camera with us!

We really hope that you enjoy our photos. Again, thank you for thinking of us! We really appreciate your concern for our classroom needs! ”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Woods

  • Reading is Fundamental!

    Funded Oct 19, 2010

Thank you so much for your contribution to our classroom. My students are always fascinated by new books that we receive and read with each other. I cannot express how each of their faces are filled with laughter during our classroom read aloud sessions.

Of all the books that we received from your donation, my students enjoy listening to the writings of author Mo Willems. Piggie and Gerald are their favorite characters and they enjoy being able to read several pages independently or while participating in group readings.

Again many thanks for your contribution to our classroom. We appreciation your generosity and your interest in seeing our kids do well!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Woods

  • We Want To Have A Seat Too!

    Funded Apr 21, 2010

I cannot begin to tell you how thankful we are for your donation to our classroom project. The cushions are subtle enough to go unnoticed for students who require them, yet they are making a huge impact on our overall learning environment.

We are already beginning to see a decrease in the number of "busy bees" that we have buzzing around during our school day. This has allowed for uninterrupted instruction as well as a chance for my students, who require extra assistance, to be able to focus on their learning goals.

We recently found out that we are also able to incorporate a few elements of fitness with our cushions, which has created excitement amongst my students. We realize the importance of fitness and have decided to incorporate it into our daily schedule in addition to meeting our learning goals.

Again, many thanks from our classroom.”

  • Help Us To Speak Technology Again!

    Funded Jan 13, 2010

Thank you so much for bringing technology into our classroom!

The laptop, along with wipes, have assisted my students in becoming technologically independent. We recently used it to assist in learning addition/subtraction of positive/negative numbers. We have also used it to support community service projects involving relief for Haiti.

Although we have received funding for projects before, this one, according to my students is "extra special because it has the ability to do so much." It pleases me to see their reactions and I couldn't agree with them more!

Several classrooms in our school are without computers. I'm hoping this will change as more colleagues utilize the wonderful resources from Donors Choose.

On behalf of myself and my students, many thanks for your continued interest in our education!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Woods

    Funded Dec 24, 2008

Dramatic play has just been enhanced in our classroom! I would like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU for allowing my students to explore the wonderful world of fairy tales. In addition to having the literature associated with some of the most popular fairy tales, we are now able to dress the part! I can only imagine how pleased my students will be once they receive their costumes and CD read along books! This will be a very memorable year and you have participated greatly in this goal”

  • Please Listen To Me Read!!!

    Funded Dec 19, 2008

I couldn't feel more blessed and excited at the same time for my second grade class. Your donation of multimedia activities will be a wonderful enhancement to our listening center. I am also very excited about the idea of my students being able to read and record as a means of checking their fluency. It is my hope that this can be the start of something new not only for my current class, but for all my second graders in the future. We are very appreciative of your donation!”

  • I Just Want To Learn Too!

    Funded Nov 28, 2008

Many thanks for allowing my students to learn in and out of the classroom! This is a great first step in providing strength in our reading skills as well as our math skills. With so many activities to choose from, my students are now able to practice individual as well as team strategies to completing assignments. We are more than excited for this opportunity that you have provided us and we look forward to beginning to learn more! Seasons Greetings”

Greetings! I am a 3rd-5th grade self contained teacher in the District of Columbia. Although small in quantity, my students possess large amounts of resilience, given that they each have learning and health disabilities. These disabilities not only impact their learning processes, but they can interfere with day to day tasks that their non-disabled peers may find "easy" to do. By not allowing their disabilities to deter them, my students are motivated by learning and love coming to school! As their teacher, I wish to expose them to everything that I possibly can that will support their weaknesses while becoming academically successfully. Through the use of many manipulatives, students are able to demonstrate understanding of many concepts presented during their school day. We welcome you to our page and we hope that you are able to support the needs of our classroom!
