A Funtastic Classroom Library!
Funded Sep 11, 2023Thank you so much for donation of the classroom library cart and social emotional books. This donation impacted my classroom in many ways. The classroom library cart and social emotional support books ensured that my students have rich and meaningful experiences with books in our new library area. The social emotional books have helped us role play scenarios and become more self aware of our emotions and needs. Having the library cart has allowed the students to seek out the books they like and want to explore. On a weekly basis, they get reading time to indulge in a picture walk or letter-word hunt book. They have learned and understand how to choose books and seek out new learning experiences when they have reading time.
Now, I am currently teaching them how to expand their reading levels to browse the books with their peers and help hold each other accountable to practice their reading skills. I intend to update the classroom library based on the varied student's interest and with age appropriate books connected to what they are learning in class.
As an educator, I value the importance of creating a classroom library that provides access to books for my students and have access to leisure reading activities at school since they don't have the same access to books at home. Research has stated that reading as a leisure activity is the best predictor of comprehension, vocabulary, and reading fluency. I hope that further donations will help me maintain a fully functional classroom and meet all the varied students' needs.”

Funded Jan 20, 2012Thank you for your generous donations to our baseball project! The past six weeks have been an amazing experience as I watch the children blossom socially and academically. The sport equipment has allowed us to enjoy and practice sports efficiently. Just having the proper equipment has given the children common ground to foster positive teamwork and sportsmanship and become a steppingstone to make new friends and gain confidence inside and outside the classroom setting.
As an educator and parent, I am deeply thankful for the investment to impact student learning. This donation will not only impact this young generation but the future ones as well. This is a "gift" that will keep on giving and giving in helping young children to acquire an education, skills, good health habits, and a desire to participate in community activities that will most likely yield a far greater return than later attempts to build these capacities. At a young age, my students have demonstrated that learning to play sports can create building blocks for success in all aspects of their life. The sports equipment is valued and treasured by all the second graders at Emelita St. School.”
