  • Engaging Nonfiction

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for funding our magazines! The kids were so excited to get their first issue, and every issue after. We read every week and it is one of their favorite reading activities. The students are especially excited that they get to keep the magazines and take them home and share them with their families.

We use Scholastic News during reading time to practice nonfiction text features and skills, and we also incorporate them into math (graphs), social studies (maps and relevant stories) and science.

We very much appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Newman

  • Living History

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for funding our history newspapers! The kids were so excited to get their first issue, and every issue after. We read them during guided reading groups and during reading centers. They help me integrate the challenging social studies content into our reading block, which is priceless!

The students very much enjoy reading all the articles and discussing them, as well as checking their knowledge with the quizzes on the back.

We very much appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Newman

I'm especially thrilled to be getting the boards before our standardized testing so that I may use them in review with my students before the tests! Thank you again for your thoughtful donation”
