Special Education Inclusion Class in Need of a Computer
Funded Jan 2, 2014Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your gift is so critical to our classroom. I chose to work in a high needs school located in the South Bronx with limited resources, but I couldn't be a successful teacher without your help. It is so important to have quality equipment to support quality education. â¨â¨Having the versatility of an mac computer makes my planning and instruction so much more streamlined. Our transitions are smooth and waste no time because my lessons are projected on the laptop screen. â¨â¨The Mac has also allowed me to connect with students in a new way. I can easily navigate to an educational video to display to the students. since some of them are visual learners. In addition the students were able to conduct research, type and publish their own pieces of work on the laptop. I am also able to download apps on the computer to target students at their individual educational needs. One of my students surprised me during the English Language Arts block when he pulled up a website and typed in a word he did not know how to say and it stated the word for him. They were so excited to see the computer and are always anxious to use it. It is always exciting to see my particular students smile because of the varied situations that are going on in their lives. My students could not believe that you donated the laptop to our classroom. I should also add that I have noticed an increase in positive behaviors due to the incorporation of the laptop during classroom instruction. There are so many ways that this laptop has allowed me to be a better teacher!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Allen
Where Did All The Pencils Go?
Funded Dec 12, 2011I want to thank you on behalf of my students and myself for your generous gift towards our classroom project "ÂÂWhere did all the pencils go?" The majority of my students come from poor economic backgrounds, resulting in them not having basic school supplies. Some people may think that pencils are so cheap but you would be surprised by how many of my students cannot just go and buy pencils due to their financial situations. The students truly appreciate your donation to our classroom. They have freshly sharpened pencils daily and I no longer have to hear the phrase "ÂÂMs. Allen, I do not have a pencil."ÂÂ Thanks to you, pencils are readily available to my students.
In addition, your gift came right in time for test preparation and the New York State exams. The students as well as myself were very stressed about the exams and the students were prepared to take on the exams with their brand new supplies. On the day of the exams, each student had two brand new sharpened pencils. There is nothing better than having a new pencil on exam days.
In conclusion, I am so grateful to you for contributing to our classroom project. ”
With gratitude,
Ms. Allen
