Calming Area
Funded Feb 8, 2023The Lego sets have been put to good use in my classroom. The kids love them!
They play in small groups, usually no more than 4 at a time, but usually just 2 will sit together and play with one set.
One day there were two kids that are having a problem with each other. I asked them to go to the calming corner and take out the work it out emotion duplo blocks and use the faces to show how they were feeling. They re-enacted their spat and then changed the faces to be happy when they made up and said sorry to each other. They worked out their disagreement through play. It was very heart-warming.
Thank you so much for the gift of legos. The kids from other classes have been asking about my lego corner, and a few of them have come in at recess and asked if they can play with them, so I'm thinking of starting a lunchtime lego club on a rotating basis so everyone can have a small group experience with them.”

Little Big Science
Funded Feb 21, 2012Thank you so much for bringing the gift of science into our fifth grade classroom. I wish you could have seen their enthusiasm and curiosity when I first set up the microscope.
After making predictions about what we might see through the lens and then taking a closer look through the microscope, one student said, "There's more than meets the eye," quoting Optimus Prime from the Transformers movie.
I will be using your generous gift of the microscope and slides for many years to come. I can't thank you enough for allowing my students to experience the wonders of our world on a microscopic level!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Wright
