Funded Nov 10, 2021I can only start by saying, "My students love their flexible seats!"
These bright and comfortable seats have been a great addition to our classroom environment. My second graders take turns everyday to read comfortable in our main rug area. They use these seats to read in small groups, sit next to each other to share a book, or simply relax by reading during our daily reading time. It was been a real joy for my students to be able to step away from their desk and sit comfortably next to each other.
I am very grateful for your generous donation. You helped bring the materials my students need to their classroom.”

Funded May 28, 2021It has been quite some time since you brought tools for counting to my classroom. My students have been using rekenreks and connecting cubes for their daily math activities. At the beginning of the year, my students were using these tools to practice making tens. At this point of the year, my students continue using these same tools to solve more complex addition and subtraction problems.
My students have learned to choose the math tools that best work for them. The rekenreks are a very popular math tool among my very active students. I have noticed that kids who feel the need to constantly move are able to stay engaged for a longer period of time when using rekenreks.
Having choices is a very important part of my daily classroom instruction and thanks to your generous donation my students have multiple math tools in the classroom that allows them to stay engaged and develop independence when solving math problems.”

Funded Sep 15, 2021Thank you so much for funding notebooks for my students. My students will be using these notebooks daily to make sketches, record ideas, and write drafts during our writer's workshop. It is so important for my young writers to have the appropriate paper (paper with wide lines and a sketch box) for them to create drawings and sketches to get them started and motivated to write down all their ideas. These notebooks will also help my students keep their writing organized in one place. I can assure you that my students will be very grateful and excited for the new writing tools you helped bring into our classroom.”

Funded Dec 6, 2020So happy to share with you that all my students' families attended our Grab & Go to pick up the essential school supplies your generous donations funded. All my students were thrilled to receive brand new school supplies to continue doing their school activities from home.
My students were so excited to receive "nice" red pencils and pencils grips. Not one student says, "I can't find find my pencil" anymore. All kids have their big red pencils in hand during our class. They were also very excited to receive primary writing journals. My students used these journals to keep all their writing in one place. These journals had the "sketch boxes" my students needed to plan and illustrate their writing.
My students were also so happy to receive drawing paper to continue practicing their drawing skills. Having enough drawing paper, and having the choice of crayons or colored pencils was a big deal for my second graders!
Lastly, knowing that all my students' families had one less thing to stress about was extremely gratifying for me. I hope I was able to convey all the excitement your generous donations brought to my students, their families, and myself.”

Funded Dec 16, 2016My students love Tim and Moby! They hang on to every word they say as they explain a concept in a short and entertaining animated video. I have been using BrainPop's short videos in the classroom as topic openers to provide background knowledge in different academic areas. These short videos support my students' understanding and use of content related vocabulary. Since my students are highly motivated to take notes while watching the videos, they had developed the practice of taking notes to record new and interesting information.
BrainPop was a great source of information for my third grade government unit and to answer many questions my students had about the election process. My students were able to understand some complex ideas related to the branches of government, presidential power, and political parties. BrainPop videos provided the background knowledge necessary for my students to have a better understanding of different reading materials they used for their research projects. They were able to use videos, books, and websites to create a project and share the information with their peers. My students were also able to learn about portraits and Frida Kahlo before starting their self-portraits, and learned about different composers they focused on in their music class. The list could go on and on. With BrainPop, my students have daily access to educational videos we watch as a class, in small groups, and independently.
Your generous donation has made all this possible! My students and I greatly appreciate your interest and support in bringing new technology into our classroom.”

Understanding Our Natural World
Funded Mar 27, 2016My third graders could not believe their eyes when they first saw the butterfly and playing mantis nursery kits! As soon as they saw they praying mantis egg sack and butterfly larvae, they immediately had so many questions and predictions about the life cycle of the butterflies and playing mantis. They engaged in conversations, observations, and research focused on concepts related to life cycles and metamorphosis for several weeks.
Just like scientist, this group of 9-year-olds were self motivated to find as much as possible about the living organisms
they were observing in class. They were amazed to see how fast caterpillars were growing; they kept a journal to record the caterpillars' daily growth and some of the behavior they noticed such as the shaking of the chrysalis and the red liquid expelled by butterflies right after merging from chrysalis. They were able to use non-fiction books to answer the question related to their observations and different life cycles.
I could not tell you enough about how this experience allowed my students to engage in nonfiction writing, draw diagrams, and make personal connections to the curriculum and standards. However, I believe that my third graders will mainly remember the excitement these resources brought to our classroom and in the words of my students how they "took care of the animals and helped them go back to their homes." Your generosity and involvement in public education allowed a whole third grade class developed awareness about different animals in their environment, and empathy and caring for other living things.”

Funded Feb 24, 2015I am so very grateful for your donations to my project. It means so much to me to have your support in bringing an additional tool to my classroom to enhance my teaching and support my students' learning. Brain Pop will bring countless opportunities for my students to expand their knowledge in multiple subject areas and bring additional excitement and engagement to their learning.
Thanks again for your help in providing access to technology to my third grade students and making our public schools a great learning environment.”

Changing Lives One Book at a Time
Funded Apr 10, 2012Thank you so much for supporting my class project "Changing Lives One Book at a Time." My students are thrilled with all the new choices you helped bring to their classroom library. These new books have helped me support my students' diverse reading needs, and have encouraged my students to engage in book discussions. Having "twin-copies" or multiple copies of these books have also encouraged my students in establishing reading partnerships and organizing book clubs.
The title of my project was "Changing Lives one Book at the Time" and I truly believe that getting my students excited about reading is essential to help my students become lifelong readers. My students, their parents, and I greatly appreciate your contribution and greatly admire your support of public education.”
