  • Rolling Our Way to Mathematical Thinking

    Funded Jan 26, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students were so excited when the boxes came and we were able to see the items inside. I have already used the foam 10 frame dice with my kindergarten groups. They declared it "the best game ever!" and were so sad when group time was over and they could not play any more. They enjoyed building numbers on their own ten frames to match the dice they rolled. We also used them to model addition and subtraction. The dice really helped my students make the connection and be successful in the activity. Thank you again for the impact that you are already having with my students!”

  • We've Got iPads, Now What?

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom! My students have enjoyed using the Osmos Genius Kits with our new iPads.

Each of the Osmo games has been a hit! They love making shapes with the tangrams. They have practiced creating their own shape and having their partner copy it. The letters game is perfect for my struggling readers. It has helped them practice while having fun, too. Their favorite game so far is the number game. This is my favorite, too, because it is teaching them to add multiple numbers together to create larger numbers and they don't realize it because they are having so much fun getting the fish to drop.

Thank you again for your generosity! The Osmo Kits will be enjoyed for years to come!”

  • Fractions and Decimals, Oh My!

    Funded Apr 20, 2017

Your gift has already made such an impact on my classroom! The manipulatives arrived just in time to help my 5th graders as they prepared to take the second administration of the math STAAR test. We used the multiplying fractions overlays to demonstrate the multiplication problems we were solving and they helped so much! The students were really able to see what happens when fractions are multiplied. We also used the number lines as we compared both fractions and decimals. Putting the fractions on the number lines helped to solidify their understanding of the concept. Thanks to you, my students feel more prepared! Thank you again for your donations, I am looking forward to using all of these manipulatives in the years to come!”

  • Engaging Students With iPads

    Funded Sep 24, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you again for donating the iPad mini to my intervention groups. The students have truly enjoyed using it on a daily basis. They love playing the math and reading games that are on there. They have even commented that the games make learning math facts fun! I have seen an improvement in their basic math facts now that they have more time to play the math games on the iPad. My students are all amazed that people who don't even know them cared enough to donate an iPad to our groups. You have truly touched their hearts and impacted their education. Thank you again!”

  • Playing Our Way to Better Reading

    Funded May 2, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students have enjoyed the games that you purchased for our classroom. The games have been a great way for me to check for understanding after we have taught a subject. My fourth and fifth grade students have especially enjoyed the synonym and antonym games. I like those games, too, because not only does it reinforce synonyms and antonyms, it also helps to build their vocabulary. My first and second grade students have enjoyed the phonics board games with the colorful pictures. It has been a fun way for me to assess understanding of concepts such as initial and final sounds. Thank you again for donating to our classroom. We are looking forward to enjoying these games for many years to come!”

  • Making Reading Fun!

    Funded Mar 9, 2013

Thank you so much for your generous donation of reading games for our classroom. My students have really enjoyed playing the games during our small group time! They have been a great supplement to our curriculum and are a fun way to reinforce the concepts we have covered that week.

My students were so amazed that someone who didn't even know us would donate to our classroom. Your generosity has touched them more than you can realize!

Thank you again! We are looking forward to enjoying these games for many years to come!”

    With gratitude,

  • Reading is Fun!

    Funded Nov 14, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation! The grant was used to purchase several non-fiction texts, games, and lessons.

My intervention students really struggle with text, especially non-fiction text. These resources that you donated to our classroom have made a huge impact. My students have enjoyed the great variety of stories that we have read. They have also enjoyed the graphic organizers that came with each story. The games have been a great reinforcement tool. The students are able to play with a partner to review topics such as making inferences and sequencing.

Thank you again for your generous donation!”

  • Gee, is that a Geoboard?

    Funded Apr 8, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. My students, both last year and this year, were so excited when they heard about the manipulatives you donated to our room!

The Fraction Island Geoboard set is a great, hands-on way to introduce and reinforce the concept of fractions. Fractions are an abstract concept that many elementary students struggle with. The color coded foam pieces make it easier to form the fractions and show equal pieces. Each time we get the geoboards out, the students are so excited and ready to learn.

Thank you again for your generosity! You have already impacted the learning of students in two different grade levels, and will impact many more for years to come.”

  • Lining Up in Math

    Funded Nov 15, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation of number lines for my classroom. The students have enjoyed using them and it has helped with their understanding of math concepts.

The slider number lines have been very useful with my first and second grade students. They are cute as well as practical. Sliding the frog up and down the number line to add and subtract has helped these students to solve problems more quickly and accurately.

The number line pocket chart has been great for my third, fourth, and fifth grade students. It is great because the numbers can be changed and different patterns can be made on the number line. This helps the students when they are looking for missing numbers in their patterns, as well as continuing patterns.

Thank you again for your donations! My students this year really appreciate it and the materials will be enjoyed for many more years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Piland

  • Wrapping Up Math Facts

    Funded Apr 17, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous donations to this project! The materials have arrived and my students were so excited. They were also excited because people who don't know them personally cared enough about their education to donate these to our classroom.

They enjoy using the Math Wrap-Ups every chance they get. I have already seen an improvement in their fact recall and in the speed in which they complete the wrap-ups. I know that my classes in the years to come will enjoy these also.

Thank you again for your generosity and for helping my students develop a love of learning! ”

    With gratitude,
