Let's Gather Together on a New Rug
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations! We are using the beautiful new rug every day all the time! When the rug first arrived, the students were extremely excited! They were so surprised at how bright and colorful the rug was and super happy that our classroom looked so much more cheerful and inviting. As they walked in the door, you could hear all their gasps of excitement and when they first sat on it, they were petting and feeling how soft it was. They have been very careful to keep it clean and not walk on it with wet shoes.
One of the favorite activities of my class is journal. Every morning we start the day with writing in our journal and the students love to share. After working independently, we gather on the new rainbow rug and share. Students turn and talk with their partners and then various students share with the class. We build community every morning on the rug and it helps us start the day on the right foot. The rug is a place where we share and do things together as a class. We are so grateful to have such an amazing new place to bond together and learn! Thank you!!”

Funded Dec 30, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donations! We are using the new rug constantly in our room. The students sit on the rug to share their writing, listen to stories, have discussions, work on group projects and play educational games. We also spend time on the rug reading stories individually. The rug is almost always being used throughout the school day.
My class was so excited when the new rug first arrived! It was so bright and colorful and they couldn't wait for me to open it up. It was raining a lot when it arrived so we waited about a week to open it up and they were asking about it all the time. When we finally opened it up, we were all in awe of how bright, colorful, cheerful and clean it was!
Currently, my class is studying habitats and we are learning about the desert. They spent the afternoon researching desert animals in groups and reading books on the rug. They enjoy learning and studying so much on the beautiful new rug! Thank you so much!”

Fantastic Family
Funded Dec 28, 2014Thank you so much for the donation of class sets Patricia Polacco books! The students loved reading them in class and were able to use their own copy to deepen their reading skills and understanding of family history. The class loved reading "My Rotten Readheaded Older Brother" and learning about Patricia's brother Richie. They enjoyed learning about character traits and Patricia's family and they could all relate to the story. When we read "When Lightning Comes in a Jar," the students were excited to see Richie again and learn more about Patricia's family stories and heritage. We read "The Keeping Quilt" when we were learning about family artifacts. The students brought in their own family artifacts as we were learning about Patricia Polacco's own family artifact.
The class sets of books helped students personally engage in the stories and make connections with literature. The books will be used again with future classes. Thank you so much for your support and generous donations!”

Hands-on Mathematics
Funded Jan 30, 2012Your donations have made a huge difference in our classroom! Thank you so much for your generosity. The Allowance Game, Tangrams, math manipulatives and bins have helped my students continue to apply their mathematical skills. They have enjoyed playing the Allowance Game and putting their money counting skills to work. The Tangrams have helped them better understand spatial relationships.
Like many other schools, our school does not have the financial resources for these materials. Without you, my students would not have had these opportunities to use mathematics in different ways.
Your support means so much to us. Thank you!”

Funded Jan 14, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donations! The chapter books that you donated have been used by my students every single day. They love reading the books and have enjoyed having so many new stories to read. Your donations have helped to have my students love and enthusiasm for reading continue to grow.
Our school does not have the financial resources it needs to provide students with new books to read. Without your donations, my students would have not had such a wonderful library. It has helped my growing readers to continue their love for reading and enjoy chapter books at their level.
Thank you again for all your donations! Your support means so much to us. ”
