Applying Learning in Transportation
Funded Nov 10, 2021Thank you for funding our science car kits! We have been working and focusing on making learning more engaging and hands-on this year, so this is a huge help to accomplishing our goals. I am so excited to see the students build and experiment with these kits that align to our school's theme of transportation. These kits will not only be used this year, but for years to come.”

Funded Sep 8, 2017Having Google Home in the classroom makes our technology more fluid, but it also aides our class discussions and Conversational English Lunches. When I originally asked for the technology, I did not have in mind that my students and I would start and Conversational English Tutoring Club for our English Learners on campus. The Google Home device is and will be used for translation and will play a vital role in the spring semester as we engage with Ray Bradbury and other authors who write about the issues of too much technology.
Additionally, the students are grateful and enjoy having the access to the technology! Thank you so much for your donation and making my classroom more equipped for 21st Century learning.”

The Power of Spreading Ideas: Books to Empower Students
Funded Aug 26, 2015Thank you again for your contribution to my class this fall! Not only did we hone our reading and discussion skills, but the students were able to read compelling anecdotes and theories on marketing. As a teacher in The School of Business and Tourism, I am always looking for innovative ways to connect our business and tourism pathway with our content, and Berger's Contagious worked seamlessly to integrate the curriculum.
Everyday since we received the books, my students would begin class by silently reading and taking notes on key concepts in order to apply the marketing principles into their projects and refer to the text in written assignments justifying their marketing projects. After about 10 minutes of silently reading, I would have students share the key concepts, quotations and ideas that resonated with them. Being at a school where many of our students are long-term English learners provided content that they loved discussing. Thus, in addition to learning about marketing and writing, they were able to improve their communication skills.
Several of my students are re-reading the book, and have decided to pursue a degree in marketing after high school. One student, Chris, shared everyday, and even several weeks after, he still discusses the ideas presented with me after or before class.
You have helped me connect the American Literature content clearly to business and life. We are grateful for your support!”

Ink Needed for My Class
Funded Oct 14, 2012Thank you for donating to my classroom. The ink has been a tremendous help to hundreds of my students and other teachers. The day that I received the ink at school, all the printers and copiers were out of ink, but I was still able to make the necessary copies for my lessons. As our school budget continues to look bleak and as making copies has become more difficult due to supply shortages, I have been able to successfully make the copies we need to be efficient.
Once word spread that I had a working printer, many students began stopping by my room before and after school and during lunch to make copies. I even had teachers stopping by to print reports and other documents that they needed when they could not print elsewhere.
You have helped me provide more access to resources that are highly sought after on our campus. We are grateful for your support, and appreciate your kindness.”
