  • Write On, Wipe Off

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

My students and I want to thank you so much for this generous donation to our classroom! These materials will be used often in the classroom. My students were so excited to learn that our grant had been funded and couldn't wait to open the box when it came in. They can't wait to use the construction paper for various art projects. The white boards will be so useful during our daily small group lessons. The fact that they are magnetic makes me so happy! I have some magnetic letters that I can't wait to use with them. It has been fun to watch their excitement over these new things for our classroom.

Thank you again for this donation! We appreciate your support of what we are doing in classrooms so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mann

  • Building Our Phonetic Skills

    Funded Dec 18, 2020

My students and I thank you so much for this generous donation to our classroom. I've noticed my students are lacking in their phonetic skills and these new ready made phonetic games will give us great opportunities to grow those skills.

My students were so excited to learn that our grant had been funded. When the box was delivered to our classroom they were thrilled to see all the games inside. We've started opening up one at a time and learning how to play the game. It has been so fun to watch their excitement and see them practicing these various, important skills.

We can't thank you enough for your donation and look forward to using these games for years to come!”

  • Write on Wipe Off

    Funded Dec 20, 2019

My students and I are so excited about our new table! As soon as I moved it into the classroom we starting using it. The students were beyond thrilled to have a new table they could write on and thought that the fact that I was allowing them to write on a table was so cool!! However, I did tell them they had to be sure not to go home and write on their mom's table!

We have already used the table for small group work in both reading and math. The kids are using dry erase markers to write words, sentences, math problems, and draw shapes. We will continue to use this new dry erase table often and it is such a welcome addition to our classroom!

We appreciate your generosity and are grateful to have been the recipient of your donation!”

  • Morning Tub Exploration

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Please let me begin by thanking you for your generous donation to our classroom project! The students were thrilled when I told them we had new STEM building sets coming.

We began using them the very next day after they arrived in the mail. I'm putting each set into a station that students have the opportunity to spend time at almost daily in the classroom. They are given a chance to create, build, explore, and discuss with other students in their group while playing with these building sets. It has been so wonderful to see their excitement and engagement as they are playing.

Many of my students have access to a great deal of technology in their homes and often don't spend time playing with toys such as these the way I did growing up. It was my hope that with these building sets students would engage their minds and use their imagination and creativity to grow their brains. So far that seems to be happening and for that I thank you. You gave my students that opportunity!”

  • Growing Literate Students

    Funded Jan 19, 2017

We are loving these new resources!! They've all been put to good use already!

We have used the Math interactive game to review some of our math standards during our enrichment block. The game has been such a fun way to keep students engaged while reviewing important math skills.

The dry erase pockets have been so useful during my Guided Reading lessons and student small group work. The students think it is so cool to be able to write on and then wipe off their answers. These pockets have helped me to save paper and have helped me reserve my precious copy limit. I know I'll be able to use these for years to come.

The soft seats have probably been the favorite of all the resources. The students love going to get these seats and using them during their individual reading time. We also use them when we are partner reading and spread out across the room to read. These seats have given the students a more comfortable place to be able to work when they have free choice in their seating arrangements.

I appreciate your support of my classroom and promise to continue putting these materials to use with my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mann

  • Let's Boogie Down and Be Great in Reading and Math

    Funded Nov 29, 2016

I had a classroom full of excited first graders when the box of materials was delivered to our classroom door. We couldn't wait to open the box and put the materials to use. We've been using the items daily ever since.

The Boogie boards, whiteboard and magnetic letters have been such a big hit with the students. We put the Boogie boards to use the very first day we got them. I used them during my small group reading instruction with all the students. The children were so eager to write on the boards and spent time practicing their sight words with no complaints. I've been using the tabletop white board and magnetic letters at my small group table as well. I demonstrate spelling patterns and have students come up to build words with the magnetic letters.

These materials you provided for my classroom are engaging students and encouraging them to be active learners each day. I appreciate your willingness to support public education and promise to continue using these resources in an effort to increase student success.”

  • Fostering a Love of Literacy

    Funded Sep 30, 2016

    Dear Donors,

I want to begin by telling you how excited my students and I were to receive these books for our classroom. Seeing the look of excitement on their faces while they waited to see what was in the box was so much fun! I can't thank you enough for your generous donation and willingness to help me bring these resources to my classroom.

In first grade, I teach reading using a balanced literacy approach. I believe that all students need to have interesting, well written books in their hands so they will be excited and motivated to read more often. My students are placed into small groups after I evaluate their reading ability at the beginning of the school year. I then choose books for each specific group based on what I know they need to work on to become better readers. These high interest, informational texts you helped to place in my classroom are the perfect resources for me to be able to teach from.

I strive to give each of my students my best each day. It is my goal to love, inspire, and instruct them each minute they are with me. I greatly appreciate you helping me to have effective resources from which I can teach them from. We will enjoy these new books for many years to come.”

  • A Chance at Literacy!

    Funded Feb 1, 2010

My students have gotten such enjoyment out of the books you bought for our classroom. Our school has a policy of not sending home textbooks in the younger grade levels because of the number of books that are lost and/or damaged. Many of these children didn't have any type of read material they could read at home and therefore many of them never practiced reading once they left school. As you can imagine, this really hindered their reading ability. The books you've given our class has changed that!

I've noticed many changes in my students' attitudes about reading, as well as improvements in their ability to read since being able to send books home with them each week. They are so excited each Monday when I give them their folder with the new book in it. I hear stories from them about how they read the book to their mom, brother, or other family member all the time. I also hear the students telling each other what their new book is about. They just seem to love being able to have something they can actually take with them and read at home when they want. I've seen improvements in their reading fluency since being able to send these book home with them. I've also seen gains in their decoding and expressive reading. These improvements have helped to bring up many of my student's grades in reading as well as other subjects.

Please know that these books will not only impact the current group of students in my classroom, but also the students that I will teach in the future. I plan to implement this take home reading program, using the books you've given to our class, very early on next school year. I believe these books will continue to impact students for many years to come. Thank you so much for your generosity and willingness to help students improve their reading ability. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated not only by me, but by each of my students as well!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mann

  • Amazing Author's Chair

    Funded Mar 31, 2008

A much appreciated thank you goes out to you and your generous donation! I've been anxiously awaiting funding and am so excited to be able to put all these materials to use in my classroom. I know my students will not only enjoy using these materials in our classroom, but benefit greatly academically from them as well. I can't wait to send you pictures and examples of my students and their use of each of these materials. Thank you again for being so thoughtful and helping my students by purchasing these materials for us”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mann

I teach first graders who have very limited opportunities for learning other than what they are exposed to inside my classroom. My students are typically reading below what is expected when they enter first grade because of their lack of resources and experiences in the home.
