Healthy Bodies
Funded Feb 21, 2022Thank you so much for your support and generosity. My students were so excited to see the new PE equipment. We spent about 3 weeks introducing the new materials and new games they could play using them.
Those who were familiar with speed ladders were eager to show off their skills and teach us new ways to use the ladder. For the rest of the class, it was an opportunity to learn new skills and a fun way to get exercise.
I introduced new games the kids could play with the jump ropes which made a familiar tool something new again. Kids worked together and helped each other learn coordination. We were able to build up our cardio and stamina while having a lot of fun.
Your donations will be impacting my students for years to come! Thank you so much.”

Print What You Love
Funded Nov 10, 2021I am so grateful for your contributions! My fifth grade students loved having a color printer in the classroom.
We were able to use it for our Open House projects. Students printed out research on topics of their choice so they could highlight and record notes on it. This helped many students who are hands on learners. Just reading the information on a screen would have made comprehending the text challenging for them. Being able to write on it and color code the information with highlighters helped them to fortify their understanding of the text. Then they used their research to write about their topic. Finally we printed out pictures and they had fun making their writing look amazing by changing colors and adding borders.
Parents were also very impressed when they walked in the classroom and saw their child's projects. Not all of our parents have access to a printer at home, so their child would not have been able to create a project like this on their own. They were amazed to see what their children were capable of. This gift helped my students to become more independent and helped them to achieve something they could be proud of.”

Funded Sep 23, 2021Thank you so much for your generosity and kind heartedness. Reading is such an important life skill and your donations are helping my students' love of reading grow. Seeing brand new books on the shelves brought huge smiles and excitement to the classroom.
My kids are required to read at least 30 minutes a day and there are never complaints. These new books keep them coming back for more. The titles were diverse and peaked a lot of interest. We are using these new titles to help us learn about the craft and structure of various text.
I also test my students every couple months to see if their fluency (words read per minute) has improved and I am proud to say, every student in my class either showed growth or is reading at a level beyond fifth grade! Your donations helped make this possible.”

Funded Aug 7, 2020I am overwhelmed by the generosity of friends, family, and complete strangers. It was awesome to hear my kids so excited about receiving this box during the first week of school. I didn't expect such excitement over a box, but they truly were thankful for receiving something even though they wouldn't be physically in the class with me this year. I put our school name on the cover with sparkly vinyl letters (for a splash of cheer).
Each day my students have been using it to keep track of their school materials. It has also proven very useful since many students travel between homes for day care or split custody.
Maybe they'll even use it to bring all their materials back to school when campuses open. Thank you so much for helping my students stay organized and for bringing a bright smile to their faces.”

Funded Nov 16, 2018My students and I are so grateful for your donation. The kids are so excited to use the lap trays. My desks are arranged around the outskirts of my room, but my kids come sit on the rug with me for instruction. Often while they are on the rug with me, they need to copy something off the board or record their thinking on paper. When they used to write with me on the rug, they would lay face down or curl up into a ball to write on the floor. Often their pencil would pierce the paper. Well, with our new lap trays, students are able to work while on the rug and not have any of those issues anymore. They are free to concentrate on what they are writing instead of trying to get comfortable. We have been using those trays for a while now, and they still smile each time they pick one up to use.
We also use the Rekenrek almost daily. I use it to help students with their addition, subtraction, and seeing place value. The visual definitely helps them build their understanding of how to build and take apart numbers.
We are starting our science unit about sound and light waves. The books really help the students to understand these concepts. It's hard for first graders to understand things they can not see, but these books are just right for their reading level. They were eager to explore these books to make connections to what we are learning.
We truly appreciate your generosity and kindness. This year's class and all my future classes will put these to good use.”
