  • Diving Into Health and Wellness

    Funded Dec 27, 2021

My students and I are so very appreciative for your donation. I am currently teaching a health and nutrition class to grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. These materials are being used with each class in different ways.

Currently, as seen in the photos, I am using the items with my 3rd grade class. The students are reading the books and using the food items to recreate meals that represent the Chef's Plate.

When my students first saw the materials they were overcome with joy. The students love breaking out into groups and reading the books with each other. They also like being given tasks to pretend to go food shopping and bring back items, full of nutrients that we have discussed in class.

These materials make the lessons come to life and the students are truly grasping the importance of health and wellness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Help Our Love of Literacy

    Funded May 8, 2021

In this classroom, all of our twenty students have grown so much over the past seven months. These children have had their resilience tested and have proved that they can overcome many obstacles. They have shown such a love of learning, and specifically, literacy.

These students, many learning the English language for the first time, are diving into various elements of literacy. Currently, they are focusing on well-known children's authors and are studying the different aspects of each novel.

I want to thank you again for your generous donation for my students. They cannot wait to receive their books and begin reading these classics!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Give Fourth Grade a Magnificent Math Center!

    Funded Dec 24, 2018

My students and I are so thankful for your generosity toward our class. We received the items yesterday and are already seeing the amazing things we can do with them! We have been using the white boards each day in math and reading/writing as well as the markers. The plastic bins allow us to group all the items by table for easy access when we move to work together.

They were thrilled to open the boxes and each item that we received. The students can show their peers the work they completed with their groups as well as show the teachers what they accomplished. Thank you so much for giving to us- we will never forget your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Let's Help Grades Pre-K Through 8 Showcase Their Fabulous Work!!

    Funded Dec 25, 2017

The administrators, students, and teachers of P.S. 99 all thank you for your generosity towards our school. We have big plans for the monitor that we will be receiving shortly!

Each class is working diligently in their rooms, day after day, and finally we can show off what we are doing. We will be showcasing completed work, work-in-progress as well as work that is in the planning stage.

Our parents and family can proudly view what we are doing when they come for meetings and parent/teacher conferences. It is with extreme thankfulness that we write to you and let you know how appreciative our entire school is! Have a Happy and Healthy New Year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Give Fourth Graders a Magnificent Math Center!

    Funded Dec 26, 2016

Thank you all so much for your generous contributions to our class. The students and I expect to be receiving the materials this week and we can't wait to use them during our math periods! In fourth grade, the students take a NYS Math exam in May, therefore, it is very important to fully explore and thoroughly study mathematics this year.

I want to make the learning experience fun for my students and I want them to enjoy this subject area. With these materials, we can work hands on and use visualization to solve the problems. These materials will be new, fresh, colorful and the children can't wait to get their hands on them! Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Under the Sea with 4th Grade

    Funded Dec 29, 2016

Thank you all so much for your generous contributions to our class. The students and I were thrilled to receive the materials yesterday and we can't wait to begin our research and projects! In fourth grade, the students take a NYS Science exam in May, therefore, it is very important to fully explore and thoroughly study science this year.

I want to make the learning experience fun for my students and I want them to enjoy this subject area. With these materials, we can focus on ocean life and create our own "rainbow fish." I will be reading the book to them and we will be discussing what makes us unique as children. I greatly look forward to this project and it wouldn't be a reality without your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Help 4th Graders Find Their Love of Reading!

    Funded Nov 6, 2015

On behalf of my wonderful 4th graders, I'd like to start this note by saying a big "Thank You!" My students and I are thrilled to receive the class set of books as well as materials to go along with the project. As I mentioned in my request, it is very difficult to read a novel TO a class and expect them to not only be engaged in the text, but to want to complete a task based on the text. With your generous donation, each of my students has their own copy of "Number the Stars" and we will be starting Chapter 1 next week.

The students will be able to bring their copy home and answer questions for homework as well as write summaries and create questions to ask characters within the story. I truly appreciate you donating to our class. It is very necessary for their education that they enjoy reading and are interested in a variety of texts and genres. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Please Help 4th Graders in Need of Materials!

    Funded Jan 2, 2015

Thank you both so much for your generosity towards my class. My students and I are so appreciative and we absolutely love our new materials. It is such a great feeling to know that there are people out there who care about their education.

My students love looking at the "Word of the Week" chart and it really does help them look at unfamiliar vocabulary and become acquainted with it. The sentence strips, putty, and organizers are other necessitiess that truly are needed in every classroom. We are able to post our work on the walls with pride. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • Fourth Graders In Need of Materials to Start the Year Off!!

    Funded Jan 2, 2015

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity towards myself and my students. It is so nice to be able to have all these wonderful materials and technology in our classroom. I wish you could have seen their faces as we unpacked the laminating machine. Most of them have never seen a machine like this before and they weren't aware of what it did. Needless to say, they are very thrilled to be able to preserve their work and share it with their classmates. It is great to know that there are people out there who want to see children succeed academically and have what they deserve in their classrooms.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

  • 4th Graders In Need of Print-Rich Classroom!

    Funded Jan 2, 2015

Thank you all so much for your generosity to my class. My students and I love our posters and they certainly bring life to our classroom. It is very important for all classrooms to be full of positive words, educational materials, and over all very print-rich. Your giving has surely allowed us to have a classroom that fits that description.

The students loved being able to laminate the materials and hang them with me.

Most of my students are ESL (they speak English as their second language) and they truly need to see print and wording constantly in their school day. Thank you so much again for allowing this to happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. L.

My students are attending school in a Title 1 school, meaning that the majority of the family incomes are low and students receive free lunch. I would not be able to ask each students for $5 for their own book, therefore, a donation of a class set would be a dream come true. They would each have their own copy and we, as a class, could read together and complete a culminating project about the story.
