  • Post Pandemic Sports Are Back!

    Funded Jan 17, 2023

On behalf of myself, the other coaches in my building, and most importantly, the players, we would like to thank all of our donors for helping us to take our training to the next level here at our middle school. The equipment that was purchased has been utilized countless times since it was delivered a few months ago. It certainly helped to contribute to a better training atmosphere and really motivated students to push themselves to be better players.

The Blaze Pods in particular were a huge hit! It was a type of conditioning that most of the students on our athletic teams had never done before. And while it may have caused them to be exhausted after a training session, they worked out with a smile on their face the entire time.

The pods were so popular, that even other coaches were asking me to bring them into their practices to allow their players to work out with them. If you are able to see the photos that are uploaded to the website, you will see some of our girls basketball team working out with them. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and we look forward to continue using this equipment for a long time. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mason

  • The Endless Possibilities of a Virtual World!

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

The technology that is present in the Oculus Quest VR system is out of this world! It has allowed me to bring locations around the world and in our solar system right to the students without ever leaving the comfort of our classroom. The insect exploration and Jurassic Park experience are two of their favorites. COVID has made sharing the system a little challenging, but with monitoring, the students are able to enjoy a unique experience, that is fully engaging, and unlike anything most of them have experienced. I particularly like showing the students how the VR tech works and having them use the controllers as "virtual hands." It is tricky to get used to, but the students are having a blast. Thank you again for your generosity, and for helping me bring a unique experience to my hard-working and deserving students!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mason

  • Remote Learning Is Only as Successful as Your Connection

    Funded Dec 31, 2020

Words cannot express now overwhelmed I am by your generosity. The new computer has helped me to bring new and exciting lessons, videos, and interactive models into my classroom that just weren't possible with the technology I had been previously using.

Because of the inability to update certain school computers to more recent software, my abillity to show the students more tech-intensive models and videos, or bring them to websites requiring more RAM to operate became a challenge.

I am not able to show students locations and models in 3D, provide them with 360 degree virtual tours of locations, and play videos for my remote students with no lagging issues in either the video or audio aspects.

Again, I am so excited to be able to use this technology to further enhance the quality of my instruction, particularly in this really difficult time period. Thank you again for your donation, and be safe!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mason

  • Aspiring Student Athletes Need New Gear!

    Funded Feb 15, 2020

I apologize to my donor's for such a delayed response, but COVID certainly presented challenges that I just was not prepared for. As such, I cannot express enough the gratitude I have for the donations that allowed me to continue to push my players to the next level. With any luck, COVID moves off into the distance and we can resume our sports here at our middle school. Until then, please know you are greatly appreciated and I am very thankful for your generosity. Without you, it would be significantly more challenging to engage and motivate students, especially given how difficult it is now.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mason

  • 3D Technology Club

    Funded Mar 15, 2019

First, I would like to thank the donor's that made this project a reality in my classroom. Without your generosity, it just wouldn't have happened. By adding a 3D printer to our video game design class, students were able to bring their models for their video games to life. The printer helped students realize that in today's technological world, People can literally create anything they can imagine and bring it into the physical world. The attached photos highlight some of the prints my students have done this year since adding the printer.

The students have really taken to not only designing objects and characters to be printed, but have become fascinated by the process of how the printer itself works. This has lead to really rich discussions around the way technology is shaping our future and what type of technology will be available as we move forward in time.

I have as handful of students who enjoy the idea of designing video games and learning about that process. But these students were resistant to branching out into actually 3D printing their models. It wasn't until they saw what was possible on the printer, that they became invested and started printing characters of their own.

Again, the generous donations made this possible, and myself and my students can't thank you enough for them.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mason

  • Aspiring Basketball Stars!

    Funded Jan 9, 2019

Neither myself, nor my players can begin to express our gratitude for the generosity you have shown in helping us improve the quality of our workouts and our overall ability as a basketball team through your donations. We are currently headed into playoffs, and favored to be in the championship game in just a few weeks. Our season will not end there however, and the equipment you helped us to purchase will still be used long after we have hopefully won our district championship! Thank you for all you do to support the students and athletes of NYC!”

  • Interactive Technology for 6th Grade Science and Math

    Funded Feb 28, 2008

Let me start off by first saying thank you so much for generously funding the technology project for my 6th grade classroom. This projector will help enhance not only my lessons, but student achievement as well. Both my students and myself are very much looking forward to adding technology to the lessons taking place in my room”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mason

Our middle school basketball team, the MS 50 Warriors, has been gradually building into a competitive team in our District in Brooklyn. We have 2 teams, a Junior Varsity (6th/7th Graders) and Varsity (6th/7th/8th Graders). Our Varisty team competes in a district 14 league in Brooklyn, and participates in various sponsored tournaments around NYC. 5 years ago, our team did not win a single game. However, over the past 5 years, we have built in more practice time and placed our students in mentoring programs to build them not only as athletes, but as students as well. Last season, our team finished in 2nd place in our district, despite being one of the smaller schools. We lost in the championships to a much larger and more established school. My players are dedicated to the program and work their hardest both on the court and in the classroom to be well rounded champions!
