Students need to be surrounded by quality literature to become better readers, better thinkers, and more engaged citizens… in and out of the classroom! I teach eighth grade English to a wide variety of students: special education, English language, and gifted learners all included. My job as a language arts teacher is to guide all students through the worlds of reading and writing, and many areas in between. As the population of our community changes, it is becoming apparent that school may be the one place for many students to access books and other academic tools.
