Let's Create a Perfect World! A Utopia Art Project
Funded May 19, 2021Thank you for your generosity to help fund this project for my World Studies class. Students will benefit so much from the opportunity to artistically create their own perfect world. Without your help, our projects wouldn't be half as bright or half as creative. We so appreciate your willingness to contribute to our learning.”

Historical Fact or Fiction?
Funded Sep 16, 2020Because of your support, we were able to purchase various historical novels for our students to read and enjoy. Students were then able to use their critical thinking and research skills to determine what events and statements in the books were indeed facts, and what events and statements were fabricated or embellished. This connects to real life skills that students need in these times of social media and fake news. Because students had a choice in which topic and which book they read, they were more engaged in their reading and truly enjoyed it. We couldn't have done this without you and your support!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose 20th Anniversary Fund and 4 other donors.Race Matters: Let's Talk About It!
Funded Jun 19, 2020Thank you for your support in funding our project. With these books in our virtual classroom, we were able to dive deep into discussions that talked about race. Many students had never had an opportunity to talk like this in a safe environment.
Using the structure of a Socratic Seminar, we were able to incorporate readings from the book into real life discussions that were brutally honest, and that produced immense growth. Students were able to discuss in an online format, and then reflected on these discussions to widen their perspectives and to better understand one another.
Many students reported that after having read the text, they were having better conversations about race and equality both at home, and with their friends. They also reported that the things they learned in this class, from reading the book, changed the way they looked at history as well as the current political dynamic in the United States. We wouldn't have been able to achieve these outcomes without your support.”

Document Camera for Students to Show Their Stuff!
Funded Feb 14, 2012Thank you so much for your contribution to my classroom. With your help, we received a document camera and it has impacted our learning in so many ways. Teaching at a low income school, we do not have a lot of resources nor do we have the funding to purchase anything extra on our own. With this document camera, my students are now able to experience resources that were out of reach before. This camera allows me to use just one copy and share it with the entire class. It is also great for reading out loud because they can follow along. Not only has this camera helped in our studies of history, but also in developing our literacy schools in the classroom. Thank you so much for your generous gift!”

Flash Drives for Flashy Projects
Funded Dec 25, 2011Thank you so much for donating to my project. Since we have received these flash drives, my students have been much more able to create, save, and present projects that they complete themselves.
This has changed the classroom environment in so many ways! The students are now able to create and learn in a way that is personally meaningful to them and they are taking much more ownership of their work. The new freedom to learn that these flash drives has given them is amazing to witness firsthand.
Without this technology, we would not have access to computers or the internet in the way that we now do. Thank you so much for contributing to our learning!”
