I work for a Title I school, in Florida. My students are engaged when given the opportunity to display their learning and work with technology. Our school is part of a technology program that has provided us with laptops to use in our classrooms; however it will not provide us with headphones for the students to use with the laptops. Students spend 50 minutes a day, on Success Maker a computer based learning program which helps to prepare them for the rigor of the FCAT. In order to maximize the benefits from this program, students need to be able to hear the audio tutorials being presented, however currently we have to use the program on mute. Students have been asked to furnish their own headphones this year, however many families were unable to do so. In the classroom we have given students what we have had leftover from previous years, and tried to furnish some with headphones where we can, but its just not enough. These headphones have become overused and no longer work.
