Statistically, if students don't acquire reading skills by third grade then it is a downhill spiral for them. My third grade students struggle with reading and writing. This year my class is doing the Wilson Reading Program to make certain that students hear the words correctly, sound them out, and finally write them correctly. Students need to be engaged and buy into the writing program, and it's not always easy for them. Currently, my students are using dry erase boards as well as writing with pencils in their notebooks. Not always exciting! If the students received gel boards, there would be renewed excitement in learning to write. Students. could just hold up their gel boards to demonstrate proficiency and I could see if they understood or if I need to reteach. These gel boards are clean and so easy to erase, truly it would be an exciting way of practicing writing. By donating to our project, you will be encouraging my students' to become lifelong writers. In essence, you have the power to change their future!
