I have 12 students in my class. We are second grade bilingual and are learning to read and write in both English and Spanish. My students are eager learners and it is my job to set the strong foundation in Spanish in order for them to acquire English skills. Our school has a bilingual program starting in Pre-k, adding more English as they move through the grades. By the time they are in fifth grade they have transferred almost completely to English language. This year our second grade grew from 3 English classrooms and 1 bilingual to 4 English and 2 bilingual. You can say it doubled! But we are having a blast in second grade with all these wonderful eager children!
