Funded Sep 11, 2023My fifth graders and I cannot express how grateful we are for your donations. They absolutely love their new USA carpet When it first arrived, many of my students looked at the various states and pictures. They inquired about a few of them, not knowing what the state represents or why particular images were in each location (e.g. California is known as the Golden State; Our State Flower is the Golden Poppy, and we have the Golden Gate Bridge, etc. ).
The students enjoy sitting on the carpet for various activities. We meet frequently on the rug during math rotations, book readings, and more. My students especially like to meet on the carpet when working collaboratively in small groups. I've even seen some kids actually lie on the carpet with their legs stretched out! Lol.
Currently, my students are working in groups, using the Depth and Complexity prompts for a novel we finished reading called Towers Falling by Jewell Parker Rhodes. Some gather on the carpet, as they feel more comfortable there than at their desks. As they wrap up the activity, each group will present the character they examined and analyzed from the book in front of their peers.
Our next goal is to provide bean bags for the kiddos, as some need cushion and support on the carpet.
We are truly filled with gratitude and appreciation! Thank you for your kindness.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Atalla
