Literature Circles

Help me give my students new bean bags for comfortable seating. My class loves to read on the carpet in close proximity where they engage in conversations about literature and other text.

I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for your generous contribution towards bringing bean bags into our classroom. Thanks to your support, the atmosphere in our learning space has been transformed in ways that go far beyond just providing comfort.

These bean bags have created a safe, inviting environment where my students feel more relaxed and open to learning. They now have a space where they can read, work, or collaborate with each other in a setting that promotes creativity, focus, and engagement. The flexibility of the seating has also helped students with different learning needs thrive—whether they're working independently or as part of a group, they're able to find a spot that suits their individual style.

For many of my students, these bean bags are more than just a piece of furniture—they are a symbol of the care and support they receive. They've become a place where students can take a break when they feel overwhelmed, giving them a chance to reset and return to their work with a fresh mindset. The positive impact this has had on their ability to concentrate and stay engaged throughout the school day cannot be overstated.

Once again, thank you for your generosity. Your contribution has made a tangible difference in the lives of my students, and we're all so grateful for it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Atalla

  • Fifth Grade Fitness

    Funded Oct 8, 2023

Thank you for your generous donations to help fund Yoga mats for my fifth graders! For this academic school year, fifth graders are required to take the FITNESSGRAM. It is a physical fitness test that includes six components. The goal is to help establish life-long habits of physical activity.

As part of the fitness test, students are required to complete curl-ups and pushups. This can be very challenging for fifth graders, especially if they do not have a gym. The Yoga mats have made a huge difference, allowing the students some comfortability and support. Additionally, it has motivated them to pair-up and assist one another in completing the activities. For example, they help one another with proper form and counting.

We are so happy and excited to use the Yoga mats this year!

    Thank you kindly!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Atalla

  • Math is Everywhere You Look!

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

My fifth graders and I cannot express how grateful we are for your donations. They absolutely love their new USA carpet When it first arrived, many of my students looked at the various states and pictures. They inquired about a few of them, not knowing what the state represents or why particular images were in each location (e.g. California is known as the Golden State; Our State Flower is the Golden Poppy, and we have the Golden Gate Bridge, etc. ).

The students enjoy sitting on the carpet for various activities. We meet frequently on the rug during math rotations, book readings, and more. My students especially like to meet on the carpet when working collaboratively in small groups. I've even seen some kids actually lie on the carpet with their legs stretched out! Lol.

Currently, my students are working in groups, using the Depth and Complexity prompts for a novel we finished reading called Towers Falling by Jewell Parker Rhodes. Some gather on the carpet, as they feel more comfortable there than at their desks. As they wrap up the activity, each group will present the character they examined and analyzed from the book in front of their peers.

Our next goal is to provide bean bags for the kiddos, as some need cushion and support on the carpet.

We are truly filled with gratitude and appreciation! Thank you for your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Atalla
