  • Keeping Track Of Our Learning

    Funded Jul 21, 2022

Thank you for your contribution to my student's learning. We continued to use the materials on a daily basis. The chart paper and markers helped us to keep track of our learning and were always referenced during independent work time. My students also enjoyed using the dry-erase markers and pockets to work out problems and share their mathematical thinking. The STEM Career Bulletin Board Charts helped to create a more welcoming environment in our Maker Space as did the grid paper as it helped my students to design coding for their robots.

Thank you for helping my students grow, feel welcomed, and share ideas as these materials also helped them to collaborate with others.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Calming Area

    Funded Jan 3, 2023

Thank you for your generous donation. Our class benefited from all the items we were able to purchase.

My students enjoyed being able to follow along and read as I read aloud Esperanza Rising. This gave them an opportunity to engage and discuss the story as we analyzed what we read. The modeling clay was also very useful in various projects we did in class. In engineering students used them to design creatures as they learned about biomimicry. The binding machine provided my students the opportunity to independently work on stories and transform them into books.

Seeing my students' joy and enthusiasm as they learned was amazing. Thank you for helping improve their social emotional development and help them to see their imagination come to life.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Clean Room Equals Happy Scholars

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

Thank you for your contribution to our project. Having this vacuum in our classroom has made a difference in our attitudes each day as we enter into a clean environment. My students are happy to help at the end of each day and take responsibility for keeping their learning environment ready for the next day.

The vacuum is easy to use and we continue to use it on a daily basis to keep our rug clean. Since we sit on the rug every day for read-alouds and independent work it is nice to have it safe and clean. We are grateful for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

  • Learning With Scholastic News

    Funded Oct 11, 2022

Thank you for your contribution to our project. My students have been learning a lot and improving their reading as they read these Scholastic Magazines. The articles cover recent news and cover topics that are interesting to them. They have learned about people and current events and have used their new knowledge in their writing.

They recently wrote an opinion piece on whether gaming was a sport or not a sport. Using an article as a point of reference they were able to argue their opinion and prove it with evidence from the text.

Thank you for providing them with these magazines and helping us keep up to date with events from around the world.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Our Robots Need Help!

    Funded Dec 5, 2022

Thank you for your contribution to our project. Because of your help, my students were able to build Vex IQ Robots and work as engineers. My students were thrilled when we received the parts and they began getting to work right away. They continued working on the Engineering Design Process and practiced perseverance as they tested and improved their designs.

My students were able to compete in our Local District Robotics Competition and are planning on creating a school robotics competition now. We are truly grateful for this opportunity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

My twenty-four fourth grade students are very motivated to become better readers and writers. They have a growth mind set and are eager to learn. They come to school ready to learn and be great citizens in our school community. They have learned that an "I Can't" attitude is not accepted and they must try strategies taught to them to help them succeed. Throughout the day they go above and beyond what is expected of them and they feel pride in their work. They enjoy listening to stories read aloud to them, reading with someone, doing science projects, creating art pieces, playing sports, and working on-line. My students are English Learners and come from homes where English is their second language. We are located in a small city south-east of Los Angeles, California. Our community is predominantly working class and English is a second language to many.
