  • Native Crafts for Native Youth

    Funded Oct 27, 2022

I am so grateful for your generous donations. It can be extremely difficult getting craft supplies, since they are expensive, and we have very limited funds. Through your donations, Indigenous families from across our district will be able to spend time together and craft. Wow! What a blessing! I can't wait for the materials to arrive. Thank you again for this generous gift.”

  • Empowerment through Reading

    Funded Oct 7, 2015

My students are so excited about their new books. Thank you so much for your generous donation. At the beginning of this year, we were already getting bored with reading, because we didn't have any high-interest books. Your donation resolved that issue for us. My students can't wait to read each morning. They want to find out what will happen next.

We make a commitment to read for at least 30 minutes each morning. We read as a class. It gives us an opportunity to discuss words and ideas. We believe reading is the best way to harness the power words hold.

We received two classroom sets of novels from you. This week, we will finish reading the second set of novels. I'll have to find a new book after spring break! I can't believe how quickly we have finished the books. As an educator, it is such a joy to participate in reading with my students. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to read.”

  • Camping Supplies for Monument Valley Field Study

    Funded Apr 22, 2015

As you can see from the photos, our trip to Monument Valley last summer was amazing. We spent five days camping, hiking, and building fences on the Navajo Nation. In the process, we learned a lot about the world and ourselves.

The camping gear you graciously donated to us was an integral part of this experience. As you can see from the photos, it rained. Rain was unexpected but we were prepared for it. Thankfully, we had new tents and sleeping bags to keep us warm and dry.

Since our trip, the boys who attended have all been much more comfortable at school. This trip gave them the opportunity to try on new experiences and also to have fun learning. Thank you again for facilitating this experience for our students. This summer, we will use our new gear again to bring a group of girls to Monument Valley. Your donations will bless our students for years to come.”

  • Seeing Ourselves in U.S. History

    Funded Oct 9, 2014

thank you for your generous donation to my students. We have never had access to a US History textbook in my classroom. Despite budget constraints, most US History textbooks don't completely portray the role of ordinary and diverse Americans in shaping history. For my students, this lack of representation has left them with a feeling of marginalization. Many of my young high school students are already ready to give up. It is heartbreaking, but you gave us hope.

The textbook you helped us buy, "A Young People's History of the United States" connects with my students on another level. They are beginning to see themselves as useful participants in history. They are glimpsing the impact of their own lives on the shape of the future. It is truly inspiring.

Again, thank you for your commitment to public education. Thank you for your kind thoughts and actions.”

  • Speakers

    Funded Dec 27, 2012

Thank you so much much for your generous donation. In my Social Studies classroom, I like to introduce students to diverse resources. Resources like film and music allow all students to experience history.

My classroom is home to a wide range of learners. Each student has his or her own unique style of processing information. As much as I can, (and with limited resources) I vary learning activities. The audio and visual domains are integral aspects to cognitive development. Before our speakers arrived, we read about history, but had little to reference our reading to.

My high school World History teacher, Mrs. Walker, taught me how meaningful sound can be. I will never forget listening to recordings of Gregorian chants in my high school World History class. Their voices transmitted something about the shared human experience to me, and suddenly the middle ages became more relevant.

Our new speakers have allowed me to provide similar opportunities to my own students. Since our speakers arrived we have been able to hear the sounds of history - of the world. I sincerely thank you. You have created a richer learning environment for our students and made a lasting impact.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Arthur

  • Books

    Funded Sep 7, 2012

I am very grateful to you for your donation to our classroom. As a new teacher, I have no shortage of great ideas for engaging students. Unfortunately, our biggest barrier to accessing great resources is funding. That is why your donation is so meaningful.

Our World Civilizations classroom has limited resources. Students are interested in history, the trick is providing resources to engage their interest. The graphic novel "Maus" engages students on a level that is both creative and factual. It is such an asset to our classroom. We are unbelievably excited to have a classroom set.

Thank you again for your kindness. Your contribution helps ensure a more equitable learning experience for our diverse youth.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Arthur

  • Review

    Funded Oct 16, 2012

thank you so much for donating to our classroom. As a second-year teacher, I do all I can to ensure my students have the resources and technology to be career and college ready. In our class, our expectations are great but are needs are many and our resources few.

Your donation have given us access to technology that will make learning challenging and meaningful. It is so much fun to watch the students get excited over history exam review now that we have a real quiz game. The GeoSafari Quiz Bowl is an interactive experience. Students compete using game-show style buzzers. We are enjoying building friendly competitions. Even better, students compete in teams of up to five students each, so no one feels singled-out and each feels empowered to participate. This takes our learning to a whole new level.

Thank you again. I know your contribution will continue to positively impact our learning for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Arthur

  • Interactive Learning and Review

    Funded Dec 14, 2011

We sincerely appreciate your generous donation of a classroom Jeopardy game. In this digital age, it takes technology to engage students in learning. A classroom Jeopardy game is something I'd always wanted, but never thought I'd be able to afford. What with all the budget cuts, it is all I can do to make sure students have paper and pencils, never mind technology.

Our classroom Jeopardy set has allowed us to review content in a fun and interesting way. It is such a delight to see my students' excitement as they eagerly press the button and earn points for a correct answer. On behalf of my self and the families I serve, sincerely thank you.”

  • Literacy Reward Center

    Funded Nov 8, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation. The moment our materials arrived in the front office students began to get excited. Everyone wanted to know where the big red beanbag chairs were going. When I brought them into our room, my students were thrilled!

The beanbag chairs, rug, and books have been such a needed and appreciated addition to our classroom. Most of my students are pregnant teens. Having a place to rest and relax with a good book really makes a difference for them. Our literacy center is a stress-free zone in the midst of a very stressful world.

In closing, I'd like to share with you a comment I overheard one student say as he tried out our new chairs. "Wow," he said, "our teacher is the best. What other teacher cares enough to get us beanbag chairs?" Thank you for enabling me to show my students that I am a teacher who cares.”

    Ms. Arthur

I teach in an urban alternative public high school in Utah. We serve at-risk youth. Most of our students qualify for free lunch. We are incredibly diverse. Over 80 languages are spoken in our building. I work with 9th-12th graders. Many of my students are teen moms. I am a first year teacher. I have already purchased many materials for my classroom, but these materials are not enough. These students deserve more.
