It' TIME for Kids to Know What's Going on in the World
Funded Aug 15, 2010I just wanted to thank you all so much for donating! My students have LOVED receiving a Time for Kids magazine each week. We just got a "double issue" where it was a 2010 in review. They loved it. They learn so much through reading this nonfiction real world text. It has truly made them better kids!
Each magazine has a cover story and then a few other little articles. There was an article about chefs coming into the schools to prepare healthier, tastier meals for kids. My students loved this article, and asked why this wasn't being done at our school. It prompted our class to have a discussion on nutrition, it was great!
Thanks again, and know you have made an impact at 28 children's lives!”

TIME for Kids...to know what's going on in the world!
Funded Oct 9, 2009Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I am so thrilled about this. We just started doing our literacy stations and I had a bunch of old TIME for Kids magazines that the students have already started using. They kept asking me if they got to take them home, and I had to keep saying no, and NOW I can say "YES, they're yours!".
My students are going to be thrilled, it's like a gift from Santa 2 months early! This will really impact their learning, because they do not get enough exposure to nonfiction material, and now they will OWN it. The great thing about TIME for kids, is since it's a weekly thing, they students will be getting up to date information on what's going on in the world!
I sincerely appreciate all you do for me!”

Shhhh...I'm Trying to Learn!
Funded Jun 16, 2008This is quite a surprise, I opened my email account and see a letter from Donors Choose that my project has been funded. As a first year teacher and relatively new user of Donors Choose I didn't even know I could get projects funded over the summer. I am so thrilled, thank you! This will be a great addition to my classroom.
I just wanted to let you know I will be teaching a different grade than what was in my proposal, it is at the same school however I am going to be teaching 2nd graders in the fall. I am very excited because I think the partition walls and the wipe and answer boards will be extremely useful to a younger grade. So thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You will be hearing from me and my class again in the fall! This is a perfect birthday gift, which is in two weeks”

Sitting On Top of the World to Learn!
Funded Dec 27, 2007Thank you so much for purchasing this rug for my classroom. You have no idea how excited the kids will be. Right now when we want to sit together to either read a book, watch a video or have a more intimate discussion, I have old carpet squares they have to sit two to a student to. The carpet squares are fraying at the ends and most of the boys pay more attention to ripping them apart than to myself or what is going on. The students will finally have a place to sit and read in their free time instead of being stuck at their desks.
Thank you SOOO much, what a fantastic Christmas gift and a awesome way to start out 2008”

Students Prefer Markers over Chalkdust!
Funded Sep 5, 2007I cannot tell you how thrilled I am that this project was funded, and that I will be able to teach on a whiteboard!!! Even though I've only been in school a few days, the students were already telling me it was hard for them to see the chalkboard after I had erased it once and tried to write on it again. I think the whiteboard is really going to help my visual learners because I will be able to use a variety of colors while teaching concepts on the board. I really cannot thank you enough, but I know it will make a positive impact on my students' learning”
