Funded May 2, 2023Your support has brought a technological wave into our classrooms, greatly impacting our students' learning. Through Galaxy GPS watches, our running club and sports activities have evolved into interactive educational experiences. These watches have transformed theoretical concepts into tangible understanding by enabling real-time tracking of runs, distances, and speeds, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
What truly excites our students is the fusion of learning and achievement that these watches offer. They relish monitoring their progress, setting personal goals, and witnessing their improvements over time. The watches have also injected an element of healthy competition and teamwork into physical activities, igniting enthusiasm not only for sports but also for their academic pursuits.
Remarkably, even students who were less inclined towards traditional physical education have embraced this technology. The interactive nature of the Galaxy GPS watches caters to diverse learning styles, making education more inclusive and enjoyable. Additionally, the incorporation of games like Scrabble, Uno, and Catan has not only added fun but has also nurtured social interaction and strategic thinking, transforming reluctant participants into eager learners.
In sum, your contribution has seamlessly integrated technology with physical education and interactive gaming, empowering our students to explore, set goals, and connect in meaningful ways. The impact of your support will undoubtedly shape their futures for the better.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Samsung Electronics America, Inc..Engineer It!
Funded Oct 17, 2022Currently with the tools you have given us we have been given increased flexibility on maintaining the robot we have constructed for the West High Robotics Team this is because many larger power tools are used for the implementation of parts within the robot while smaller power tolls can be used to maintain the robot and conduct repairs. When larger power tools such as the chop saw or the band saw are unavailable it is critical for competitions to have handheld power tools where large power machines are unavailable, and not particularly intuitive for their lack of portability for competitions out of the state. Handheld power tools allow us to make the same adjustments to the robot we would need within the workshop. When using power tools one of the best uses for them within the workshop is general maintenance without the use of non-portable power tools.
Like any new tools that our robotics team receives our reaction was enthusiastic to the increased flexibility that power tools offer to the team. Many new students who have joined the robotics team have expressed gratitude because of the donation as well as some of the more experienced students. This is because with more power tools more students are able to make a contribution to the robot simultaneously increasing our overall efficiency.
Our next step with the robotics team is to expand our horizons and compete in more prestigious robotics events. We also intend on giving all of our members the added benefit of having general workshop experience as well as an increased understanding of basic engineering principles and hands-on experience that is often not incorporated into classrooms. Where classrooms offer eye glazing lectures that often tend to evoke a lack of enthusiasm among a majority of students, the difference is noticeable when students, and now more students, are able to contribute to the construction of the robot using the donated power tools.”

Telescope Time
Funded Dec 1, 2021The night sky is a great way to learn the scope of the universe. It can be very enlightening, and almost unbelievable, to be told that these clusters of stars are actually so far away from each other and us. As well, many of these dots and blurs in the sky have interesting stories behind them that one wouldn't expect. For example, Jupiter is visible from earth due to the sunlight reflecting off its surface, and the telescope helped to pick it out from the many stars surrounding it. Thank you so much for your support and we hope to help the students learn more about the skies that surrounds us.”

Funded Oct 5, 2020Thank your donating funds to my classroom. This year many students were unable to do hands-on activities because they were at home and not in the school laboratory. My school is one hundred percent virtual this year. I gave the students the assignment to do a science project in December. They all drove down and picked up the thermometers and anemometers and equipment in the parking lot of our school.
It was probably the first time they had been at school that year. They were super happy to see the new thermometers and anemometers that would use in their studies. They enjoyed using them at home and did not have any major problems with the scales.
This week our school has transitioned to a hybrid model, and I'm starting to get those returned. I now have a class set of thermometers and anemometers for future lessons.
Thank you,”

Physics Supplies
Funded Oct 23, 2019Thank you for donating once again to our classroom. Chevron mostly paid for this grant, and this is at least the fifth time they have donated to STEM education to my classroom specifically. My students this year are seventh grade gifted and talented students. What I've learned is that they are gifted at destroying lab equipment. I think this comes from their lack of coordination coupled with their insatiable curiosity. They love hands-on experiments and these tools will help them on their STEM pathways. This was the first year I ever ordered stopwatches, since students always use their phones for timers. But many 12 year olds are not old enough to have a phone. So these timers are awesome.”

Funded Oct 24, 2018Ring stands, clamps and mass sets are invaluable for my class. I am a nontraditional teacher, and rely on hands on activities, experiments and lab work to teach physics. I have limited space and equipment, which means my students can easily hide and not learn. These additional sets help me to make team size smaller than three per group, and in some cases, two per group. For example, today we made pendulums and solved for potential and kinetic energy. Students worked in partners because we had enough ring stands. This meant greater learning.
Thank you!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Wells Fargo and one other donor.Masses, Scales, Timers for Physics!
Funded Nov 1, 2017Thank you to all of the sponsors that donated for all of out amazing equipment. We recently used the masses in a lab. The equipment was very needed, all of our old stuff was very out dated and most of the materials were stolen, so with these new additions it really helped out our school and the moral of the students, one student said to me, "It makes us feel more important and makes us feel like out education matters to others." I just want to thank all of our sponsors and donors again for your amazing support and generosity.”

Beakers for Physics
Funded Oct 31, 2016Thank you for sponsoring us with a new class set of Beakers. Within the first week of purchasing the beakers, I had a biology teacher come borrow them for her students. This week we are starting fire labs, and have used hot plates and Bunsen burners to heat up my physics class.
The students enjoy using the beakers and were excited to see new equipment. The chemistry teachers were also excited to potentially borrow my class set for their work.
The next step for these beakers will be experiments in fluid dynamics. Students will be measuring buoyant forces using beakers and triple beam balances. I'm excited to use these because they are resistant to breaking easily.”
