Tic, Toc, Tic, Toc! We Rock!
Funded Sep 17, 2021My students are loving the supplies you donated. The baggies are helping the students keep their library books clean and separated from classroom libraries. When they saw the baggies so were excited to go book shopping. It was nice to see that. Also the giant timer has helped tremendously because they can now self monitor how they stay on task. This was an area they struggled with but not anymore as the timer is loud and big. We also created a bulletin board with the vibrant letters you donated as well.
So once again, thank you for helping my students keep track of their items and their time. Much appreciated.”

Funded Dec 23, 2021Thank you for investing in the love of reading. My students are still navigating and learning how to best use technology for educational purposes. My students are learning that reading can be fun and engaging while building up skills they need. They are learning how this digital reading program is tailored to meet their specific areas and making it fun at the same time. A feature of the program they liked was how the computer was able to track and time how fast they read. They thought that was cool. This program also has a great feature that build and expands their vocabulary. This has been a beneficial tool especially for my English Language Learners, who struggle with vocabulary.
My students seemed happy and eager to read when I assigned them to read on the program. More importantly, they seemed engaged and I have seen growth.
So once again, thank you for investing in the how students can use technology to support learning in a fun and meaningful way.”

Funded Nov 11, 2020Teaching remotely this school year 20-21 has had its challenges. One of the challenges has been to provide students with engaging, meaningful books that are current, keep them interested and are relatable. Your generous donation of books did just that. The books were greatly received, appreciated and needed. As we switched over to remote learning, I feel the students needed a break from being on a device most of the day. I had no idea how true this was and how much of an impact your books would have. The kids were so excited with the books and expressed how much they missed holding a book. It was a bitter sweet moment. I'd like to take this opportunity to let you know that the books you donated were inspirational and allowed them to connect with the characters and themes. They were hooked on the books and really enjoyed them. One of my students wrote. I am very thankful for the books. I love the book "New Kid" because I'm going to middle school too and it helps reading about another person's experience. I could identify with the character in the story which was awesome! I felt like the character in the story!!”

Funded Sep 11, 2020Starting the school year 20-21 with so many uncertainties for both parents and students made your donations so well received. I was able to bring a smile to my students faces with the pencil erasers you donated by attaching them to a note that read "Erase your fears, We're going to have a great school year". My kids not only needed the erasers but they served as reminders that we can overcome our fears and mistakes. The shields and face masks reinforced the importance of them taking the necessary steps to stay safe and keep others safe as well. As one student wrote "Thank you for giving me the mask because my family does not have many reusable ones". Another student wrote, "Thanks for the face shield I can really use it, I didn't have one so I feel safer now." Another student said," I am going to be travelling soon so I can use the mask and shield to protect myself and others". The items you provided gave them reassurance and hope that things would get better.
In terms of the dry erase markers and folders, they were beneficial in helping me stay organized and recreate school at home. It gave students the assurances that things would run as close to a classroom setting as possible. I was able to create a similar environment that they were accustomed to so that we could focus on learning. I will not forget how excited they were to pick up their items, as I had to switch to remote learning. It was a rainy day but that did not deter them. Most of them showed up and had a huge smile on their face when they received their baggies with the remainder of their stuff. I will repeat what one of my students wrote "Thank you for choosing to donate to my school and sending my teacher theses useful things." I could not agree with them more. Your contributions helped our community by letting them know people are thinking of them and that they are not forgotten. There is no better gift than that!”
