  • A Whole New World! Teaching Virtually and Traditionally!

    Funded Aug 4, 2020

Thank you so much for the air purifier and the Chromebook. I use the air purifier everyday during class. It is wonderful because I can set a timer for it to be on while my students are present. I am hoping by using the purifier it will help prevent some illnesses in my classroom.

The COVID-19 virus has caused many changes to this school year. I needed the Chromebook to be able to communicate with my virtual students via live google meets and also creating videos for my students to use with virtual learning. I will use the computer everyday. I have to meet with my virtual students 2 days a week and I create several videos a week for them to use.

I did not take any pictures of my students using the products because both products were for my students but students cannot "play" with them. The air purifier is set up in the room and used daily. Our school district requires all students have their own computer so they cannot share this Chrombook. I hope in the future to use this computer in small group with students. I did however share some pictures of my google classroom and loom videos to show you how I am using the computer. Thank you again for you gracious donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shannon

  • iLearn, We learn with an iPad!

    Funded Mar 6, 2015

I can't fully express how delighted and thankful I am for your donation to my project. The use of technology is such a beneficial tool in the elementary classroom.

The technology that you have funded will allow me to take notes during various professional development workshops. It will also allow me to download apps to use with my students to increase their reading capabilities and comprehension. This iPad will not be only used to expose them to 21st century learning. It will also help me to better differentiate instruction for my students.

This iPad will help me and students excel to new heights! My students will now have the necessary exposure to new technology and learn the skills that are necessary to be successful in life.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shannon

  • Mad Math with Minis

    Funded May 14, 2014

Thank you so much for the IPAD Mini and the case! My students are super excited about having an Ipad in the classroom. I use the IPAD for many different educational purposes. I have downloaded several math apps to enrich my students learning of the common core math. My students who are struggling with basic math facts play mathopia or mathshaker to improve their skills.

In addition to using the IPAD for math, my students are also using it to take accelerated reading test. We only have 2 working computers in my classroom. The IPad gives them another technology resource to be able to use. I also plan to use the IPAD in centers to enrich and reinforce math, listening center, reading, ect. The IPAD will be very engaging as a center station.

I personally use the IPAD with an app called class dojo. This an app used to build positive behavior with my students. I have the ability to send parents messages about their child or things going on at school. My students and parents love it!

We are so thankful to have such wonderful donors like you to help us provide opportunities for our students. Thank you again for you donation to our classroom.”

  • Help! Our Frogs Died Over the Christmas Break!

    Funded Jan 31, 2010

Thank you so much for you generous gift to my classroom. My students have been so excited about our river tank. They were very upset when we came back from Christmas and our frogs had died. The students enjoy watching the different creatures swim in their own habitat. The frogs and shrimp arrived after school and I put them in the tank. The next morning the students noticed immediately that we had new creatures!

The river tank and the river tank plants and animals has provided ongoing activities for research, observation, prediction, and enjoyment for the children. Each of these activities have followed specific science state benchmarks. The tank is set up in the classroom as observation stations and serves as a starting point for research, as well as art and creative journaling lessons. In addition, I use the tank to demonstrate the water cycle.

With your help, my students experience hands on science in their classroom. Thank you again for your generosity. Thank you for caring about our students!

  • Wii Need To Get Motivated!!

    Funded Nov 9, 2009

Thank you so much for your donation to my students. They love the Wii and the games that came with it. I use the Wii as an incentive to behave during class and to earn their accelerated reading points. If the students earn the points and have now check marks at the end 2 weeks they get a free period to play the Wii and play board games. They love it! We have had 2 Freedom Fridays since we received the Wii. The kids that do not get to participate always strive to be able to participate the next time.

We are so thankful to have such wonderful donors like you to help us provide opportunities for our students. Thank you again for you donation to our classroom. ”

I did not tell my students what we were getting I just told them we were getting some more creatures!! The tank arrived first and the questions began! I did not tell the students what would be in the tank. The animals and plants did not arrive for another 2 weeks. They arrived after school and I put the tank together the next day. The students love it! We have 3 dwarf frogs, snails and fish. The students enjoy watching the different creatures swim in their own habitat.
