Funded Aug 26, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donations! After receiving the materials from this project, I immediately began painting the classroom. It was hard work and it took a week to complete however it was worth it! I chose a cream color paint that went really well with the rugs we received from this project! Our classroom used to have tape residue on the walls as well as paint was chipping off the walls. Now everything is fresh and clean which helped us have a great start of the school year!
All the rugs and the curtains was a great addition and made our classroom even more warm and welcoming. I truly couldn't have done this without your donations! Thank you again for your support!”

Funded Sep 19, 2018Thank you for your donation! Our new iPod brought lots of new and old music to our classroom. We use it everyday to listen to music while students work during playtime. Having the iPod allows us to listen to a much wider variety of music. The children will often recognize their favorite songs and break into song! Having this availability to music allows our class to have the occasional dance party just for fun.
I have spent many hours creating the perfect playlists for our nap time. The iPod provides the ability to find and arrange the perfect mix of downtempo tracks, ideal for relaxation. We couldn't have done all of this without our iPod.”

Funded Feb 27, 2018What a difference this project made in our classroom! My students used all the materials received from this grant to create and tell lots of stories that helped them develop their imagination and story telling skills!
They used the moss and rocks to create a whimsical backdrop to their tales. They also used the crimpers and glitter paint to illustrate the story they told, and the frames to display their amazing work. Watching my students grow and become storytellers has been an incredible experience and we couldn't have done it without your donations.
As we begin the new school year, we cannot wait to see how these materials are going to help our current students engage in storytelling! Thanks again for your donations, which will help make learning fun for our students for years to come.”

Let's Expand the World of Pretend Play in Preschool!
Funded Sep 18, 2017Pretend play is an extremely important part of preschoolers' lives. Through play, preschoolers learn various skills that will help them develop socially, emotionally and academically. On a daily basis, our dramatic play center is filled with students who are excited to use the new materials that we received through the donor's choose grant! They act out stories they already know or they make up new ones almost every day. Some days they pretend to be fire fighters who are saving babies from a fire other days they are princesses who are having a tea party.
Almost daily, they use the sketch pads to draw pictures of what they acted out at the dramatic play area or just to come up with new stories so they can pretend play it. Having the sketch pads helped us witness the progress of each child's development through their drawings and understand their thinking.
Thank you for helping us turn our dull dramatic play center to a magical land where our students can play, learn and grow. We couldn't have done this without your help!”

Funded Mar 31, 2017Technology is a part of our daily lives and I wanted to share this experience with my students in the classroom setting which, might look different than how my students use technology at home. On a daily basis, we use technology during small group instruction as well as whole group time. During small groups we use technology to help guide our research and find answers to the questions we might have about a specific topics that we are learning about. During large group instruction, we often use technology to nudge our thinking and think about the world beyond our classroom walls. The new computer has been a tremendous help with all these aspects of learning in our classroom.
The new technology, our classroom computer, helped my students understand that there is a world beyond our preschool classroom walls, even though we might not be able to go there or experience it. In addition, this computer helped us find answers to questions that many of our curious preschoolers had on daily basis. Sometimes these questions were as simple as "how is the weather today?" to as complicated as "where does rain come from?".
It also helped us create personalized charts and instructions for students. By creating these charts, this experience gave them an ownership of their own learning. For example, while we were learning about hand-washing we took photographs and created a classroom handwashing-chart using the computer. We hung this chart in our bathroom wall so that students can refer back to it over the year. I have seen my students look at this chart everyday while washing their hands! We wouldn't have been able to do this if we did not have the computer. Thank you again for your donation and dedication to education!”
