  • Materials for Daily 5 Centers!

    Funded Feb 10, 2013

When I became a teacher, I promised that I would do anything to help students, in any way possible, but at times, it gets hard when supplies and materials are not available. You have supplied our classroom with so many wonderful things, that I cannot even begin to thank you. You are one of a kind, and my students love everything in this classroom. I try to keep materials fresh and now, making sure students stay motivated and eager to learn, and you have helped make this happen. If only you could see their faces when I tell them the exciting new materials we will be getting for our classroom! Their faces all light up.

Thank you once again for making this all possible! You are an exceptional person!

    Thanks, thanks, thanks!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Picicco

  • Listen To Reading With Daily 5!

    Funded Nov 29, 2012

I can't express my appreciation and gratitude for helping fund this project for my classroom. I can't even tell you how excited my students were to hear that we would be getting these materials to use during our literacy block, using Daily 5. They are so happy and anxious to get to the center so they can hear the exciting new stories through their listening center.

To have generous people like you is rare. It is so nice to see that helpful people that care about the education for our students exists, and I can't thank you enough for making this project possible.

I look forward to watching the faces on my students as they use these materials every day and become better readers because of you!

    Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Picicco

  • Help With Hands-On Reading!

    Funded Sep 10, 2012

    Dear Jane Miller,

Thanking you for donating to Donors Choose.org is not nearly enough. I received my Document Camera around 3 weeks ago, and since then, our class has used it every day. The students are able to participate hands-on in real alouds, shared reading, writing, language arts activities, and math! The students are not only able to participate, but they are able to teach others and learn from each other.

Working in a low-income district has its ups and downs, the downs include not having funding to purchase the latest technology to use in the classroom. Because of you, we now have this amazing tool to use every day in our very own class.

Again, we thank you for your kindness and generosity! You MADE a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Picicco

My students are all ELL students. I have 21 total students, 12 girls and 9 boys. Each student is wonderful in his/her own way. Each student is wonderful in his/her own way. They attend a public school in a low-income community. There is little/no parent support, which makes it a little difficult to have at-home support. My students are everything to me!
