  • We're Accepted!

    Funded Oct 4, 2024

I am so excited for my students to experience everything there is to know about Harry Potter. It has become a classic for so many and is a relevant story even today about friendship and the triumph of good over evil.

I immediately rewarded students for good work with some very cool stickers. They love displaying them on the front of their folders. The pop-up pencils will be used to recognize special occasions like birthdays. We will look forward to having the chocolate frogs at the end of the book.

I appreciate your generosity and your support of public school teachers and students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tammy Fields

  • Learning Beyond the Classroom

    Funded May 7, 2024

Getting this project fully funded for my school has been a dream of mine for quite some time. The impact this outdoor space will have on our students will be awesome. Outdoor learning areas have been proven to benefit students with their physical health, mental health, social-emotional development, cognitive development, academic performance, learning styles, and their experiential learning.

This project has also presented itself with challenges that I did not realize. We are forced to wait for our maintenance department to construct the pergola. Until then, we can only dream about the space and hope that it comes together quickly so it can be enjoyed by all.

I cannot thank you enough for helping me and my school realize my dream in the form of an outdoor learning space. Learning beyond the classroom will truly benefit every teacher and every student at our school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tammy Fields

  • The Secret Garden

    Funded Jul 1, 2024

I am so excited to share "The Secret Garden" with my students. It was a beloved book from my formative years and now I get to share it in an updated version. I hate when people have misconceptions about reading. One of them is that graphic novels don't count as "real" reading. I disagree! Graphic novels improve a child's reading skills like any other book would, and they are fantastic choices for all levels of readers. I aim to provide access to engaging books across a variety of formats.

I appreciate the kindness and generosity of Berkeley. Literacy is as near and dear to her heart as it is to mine! I am grateful for your support so that I now have the pleasure of sharing another classic piece of literature with the next generation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tammy Fields

My students go to middle school. We are comprised of students with varying backgrounds. We have approximately 600 students with an average class size of 25. Due to a change in the economic structure of Hancock County, many famililies have been forced to relocate to find employment. For this reason, our current work force has changed to service rather than production based. The unemployment rate has risen. While the majority of our residents are senior citizens, many of our remaining younger families are single parent households who's economic structure is such that they qualify for assistance with free/reduced meals. Due to these changes, the school must continually adjust the curriculum to meet the academic and social needs of the students. I teach 5th grade ELA. I have approximately 75 students in 3 rotations. My students would benefit greatly by having good literature at their fingertips and adequate supplies.
