  • Can't Wait for Paint

    Funded Apr 8, 2011

Thank you so much for the paints, brushes and canvas. My students were thrilled when the boxes came in and they realized they could begin their canvas paintings. We have been studying color theory and the art work of Janet Fish, Diebenkorn, Matisse and several modern artists. The opportunity to use color in the same ways as some of the artists we have studied has been a great experience for my students. I can't thank you enough for your generous support of our program. Thank you for making a positive impact in my students' study of art.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shelley

  • Print and Paint for Art

    Funded Feb 26, 2010

Thank you for the printers, cartridges and paint. My students were thrilled to finally have our own printers for our work.

My students did some beautiful paintings on canvas and had the opportunity to mix a variety of colors. They had the opportunity to actually print out edited photos which they used for their paintings. They used digital cameras and edited them on the new printer software.

The paintings and photos were representative of our community and showed a wide range of subject matter and colors.

Thank you for providing my students with the opportunity to do a multitude of projects including photography, print photos for their art work and complete research on art styles, periods, and artists.

Thanks a million for your assistance.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shelley

  • Fused and Slumped Glass

    Funded Feb 26, 2010

Thank you so much for helping my classroom by giving them the opportunity to work with glass. Right now, we have glass everywhere. We are making slumped glass plates, dishes and fused jewelry.

My students are so excited about the opportunity to work with a new medium. We never would have been able to afford the glass to make these awesome projects. The look of excitement on the students faces when they wait for me to unload the kiln so they can see their projects makes it all worthwhile.

It has been a great experience and thank you so much for giving us this opportunity.”

  • Books Worth A Million

    Funded Oct 28, 2009

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to purchase books for the art program. The students have enjoyed using them for various projects and to read during our stop, drop and read program.

We recently started a program on digital art and cartooning and without the donors choose purchases we would not have had the success and/or resources to successfully complete it. With our limited resources your donation has given our program a much needed lift. It has been exciting to see the students use the books and borrow them to use at home. I can not thank each and every one of you enough for your kindness and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shelley

  • Social Realism with Digital Photography

    Funded Feb 27, 2009

My students were so excited when we opened up our boxes from Donor's Choose and found the camera's, printer and the other supplies. Several of the students used the camera's when we took a fieldtrip to a nearby gallery. The students will be using their photos and the pens to document their life as teenagers. They will be documenting an upcoming fieldtrip and writing about the experience. I am allowing the students to sign out the camera's so they can take them home and have the opportunity to take pictures and write about their families, interview relatives and write about them in their journals along with their photos. It is exciting to see the students writing and using photos while developing their visual journals in their own way.

Thank you for providing this opportunity for my students. I can't wait for you to see some of their photos.

    Thank you !”

  • Recycling- Making Paper

    Funded Jan 16, 2009

Thank you for your generosity to our art program. These materials will give me the opportunity to teach paper-making to my students. The students will be making paper to use in a variety of artworks as well as to make their own books. I am really excited about the opportunity that the materials give me to provide projects that incorporate other disciplines with my own.

I love that we as educators have the ability to provide special projects to our students because of supporters such as yourself.

    Thank you!

  • Art Books

    Funded Dec 2, 2008

I want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to add to our art library. This will be a great addition to our classroom as the books have a wide range of reading levels as well as interests. With our new reading program in place (High Schools That Work), being able to provide the students with a variety of books is indeed a bonus and exciting for our arts program.

Without donors such as yourself it would be difficult if not impossible to be able to provide these books to my students, so again, thanks a million.

    Sincerely yours:

    Mrs. ”

  • Kiln Slumped Glass

    Funded Dec 17, 2008

I am so excited for my students that they will have the opportunity to make glass. I have shown them several pieces I made this summer at the Kansas City Art Institute for educators and they really wanted the opportunity to be able to work with glass. Most of my students have limited opportunities to see artwork and various craft forms. It is with grants such as this that they are able to experience media and art that otherwise we would be unable to provide for them. Thank you for giving my students this great opportunity. What I find the most exciting is that the students will have something that will be aesthetically pleasing and know that they made it. With my special needs students that is an awesome feat. Have a great day and thank you for your continued support in improving education and providing exciting learning opportunities for students”

The glazes, extruder, brushes and reed will help us out immensely. This will be an exciting way for my students to start out the year!
