Play Is Our Work
Funded Feb 7, 2017Thank you so much for all the materials for our playtime. Thank you for valuing childhood and play. My students love the Magna-tiles. They plan and build intricate structures while developing important geometry concepts. During pretend play time, my students use the capes in many different ways. They pretend to be super heroes, knights, princesses, and magicians. But sometimes capes become tents or aprons. Every day is something different. It's amazing how imaginative they are.
We are so grateful for your generosity!”

Art Material for Little Artists
Funded Feb 4, 2017My students love to paint, draw, color and make collages. They were so excited when I opened the boxes and showed them all the new art supplies. During choice time, I was able to open a paint center because we had enough paint paper and brushes. Then too, beading center is a huge hit. The children are using pipe cleaners and beads to make jewelry and other fun creations. We used sharpies to make self portraits. In art center, the children are using large construction paper and colored tape to make awesome collages. All these art activities are possible thanks to your thoughtfulness and generosity. Thank you from all of us in K-107!”

Books For Budding Readers!
Funded Dec 4, 2016My students and I are immensely grateful for your generosity. These books have been such an incredible resource in our classroom. After I read each book several times, my students can use illustrations and the story structure to "read" the book by themselves. Having multiple copies of their favorite books means that they don't have to wait for days for their turn to read a book. It also means that the children can borrow the books to take home and share the joy of reading with their parents. It is so wonderful to watch my students fall in love with books and reading.”

A Place To Learn and Play
Funded Dec 31, 2016Thank your for donating such beautiful rug to our classroom. Having a rug with individual sections makes it easier for students to maintain their personal spaces. This rug helps create a clean and organized classroom environment.
Our classroom rug is a hub where we meet to learn new strategies in reading, hear stories, share ideas and events, build structures, work in small groups, dance, play games, work on puzzles, or just quietly enjoy a good book. We are very grateful to have a beautiful new rug. Thank you for your generosity and support.”

Learning Through Play
Funded Nov 24, 2016I can't thank you enough for all the building materials for our choice time. You should have seen my students' reaction when I opened the boxes and told them that they can start using the materials right the way. They were so excited and eager! It is amazing to see all that creativity and collaboration happening during our play time. My students create intricate structures and work on them over several days. While building and playing, they develop cooperation skills, analytical thinking and perseverance. All these skills are essential for academic success as well as social and emotional well being. Thank you again for supporting our class!”

Funded Sep 1, 2016My kindergartners are learning that readers look very carefully at the pictures, think about what they see and then read. We have talked a lot about looking closely and thinking about the characters and the story. They love reading Piggy and Elephant books. Familiar characters and a few words on each page provide a great support to my growing readers. It is delightful to watch them being so engaged with the books.
I am so thankful that we have enough copies for every child to borrow at least one book. All my students can bring a book home to read to their parents and return it the next day. They are so excited to share their reading skills with their families.
Thank you for giving us a gift of reading!”

Cooperation + Creativity = Learning!
Funded Aug 25, 2016Dear Donor!
You should have seen the look on my students faces when they first saw the giant hollow blocks. They were so surprised, excited and very curious. After I introduced the blocks, I let small groups of children explore and build. Almost immediately, I witnessed their imagination and creativity in action. They were building stores, train stations, offices, and kitchens. It is such a joy watching children work together and create.
Many of my students do not have the same foundational experiences that other children have prior to coming to school; therefore, I am constantly striving to provide a variety of these experiences in my classroom. These blocks allow my students develop creativity, vocabulary, and motor skills.
My students love building and playing with these blocks. Through this play, they are learning to communicate, solve problems and work together! Every day they come up with new ideas and new projects, and I love watching their creativity blossom.
Thank you for your generosity and support!”
