A Great Start to First Grade
Funded Jul 31, 2023With the help of your donations, each student in my class have their own yellow folders with worksheets in sheet protectors that they use for their daily practice with their markers and erasers. My students were happy and so appreciative of your donation so that they can have their own materials.
Also, on their tables are their own pencil boxes with the school supplies that you also provided. They are able to use them in our classroom and it contributes to their daily growth.
They will continue to use their school supplies throughout the year in other subjects as well throughout the year.”

Funded Nov 17, 2022My 25 students are using their 2 pocket- folders with sheet protectors every day to complete their daily Math practice. Their folder also serves like a school bus that protects their materials that needs to be taken home and back to school.
Having the markers to show their Math solution, spelling words, or draw an illustration of an event in a story on a white board makes learning and communicating easier. Each student gets to enjoy their pencil box that keeps their crayons and other materials organized. The scoop and wobble seats are popular in our class!
They have to wait for their turn to use them. We are all appreciative of all the materials you donated to our class. Thank you for your kindness!”

Funded Nov 10, 2021Our classroom not only serves as a place to learn for my students, but also a place to bond and grow at their own pace. From the pencil case with markers and scissors to white boards, these supplies enable my students to express their ideas and correct their mistakes.
The plastic folders and worksheets in sheet protectors help them practice their doubles and fact-families as soon as they are seated for their daily warm up. Having their own headphones allowed my students to focus on their work during small groups as they individually work on their reading fluency and comprehension on their computer.
Even though we have masks on, we are able to continue the learning process in the most efficient way due to the materials you've provided. For all that and more, we are very grateful.”

This classroom project was brought to life by #TeachHealthy with Nature Made. Our Differences Make Us Beautiful
Funded Dec 22, 2020The first book I read to my students was Vice President Kamala Harris' "Superheroes Are Everywhere". I was able to not only introduce our first female, first African American, and first Asian American Vice President of our country, but also read to them how there are superheroes in their families and inside themselves.
They also enjoyed "The Name Jar" where they learned how important and personal a person's name is. They inquired about other countries' alphabet, relating to being a new student in class, and learning the stories behind their names.
They already asked me when will I be reading "I Am Deaf" to the class. I am grateful and appreciative that I was able to teach my students with the help of the books about understanding people that are different from them and that everyone has something good to contribute.
We will start our in-person class in about 3 weeks. I can't wait to read the rest of the books to them. Thank you for your generosity!”

Funded Aug 12, 2020We are so overwhelmed with gratitude for your generosity of providing our needed materials so that we can make distance learning more bearable, yet productive. You made it easier for parents and students so that they wouldn't have to spend for school materials. We are able to stay organize with the help of the plastic folders, sheet protectors, pencil boxes, and the clear bin so that all our materials are in one spot and easy to find, saving our precious time.
Having their own white board and markers allows them to have enough space to show their math solution, or draw so that they are able to take a photo of their work and post it clearly online for me to see.
For moments when the tv is on, music, conversations from family members, street noise from trash trucks, buses, and paramedics can be heard, all I had to remind them was to put their headphones on. The noise used to bother me when I call on them to unmute and share their ideas, but I realized that the headphone was doing its job blocking some of the distracting noises.
To add some fun and good distraction from the pandemic, we are able to do art on Fridays with the help of the crayons, watercolor set and watercolor paper you provided as well. They are able to express themselves and just enjoy art. My heart is overflowing with appreciation that you were sent to us. God bless you and your families for your kindness.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Olmedo
