Teaching History, So That It Doesn't Repeat Itself!
Funded Dec 28, 2012This Thank You letter is a small token of my gratitude for your generosity to my current students and I'm sure for many future students to come. The books you have donated are a great resource to teach where our country has been and explain the founding principles that were decided so long ago.
My history buff, Noah, kept all 25 books on his desk and would not let anyone read them until he was done. I recently took a trip to Boston for Spring Break, and in class we had just finished covering the American Revolution. So tying in your books, my photos, BrainPop videos as well as old school house rock videos and the textbook really help students understand the different forms of media that are available to convey our history.
Expository reading is the hardest for children. They do not get enough practice and honestly there are not good enough books out there for children that are fact based books and current. Our school was a 6-12 grade school for 6 years and this is the 2nd year in which K-5 was added. Our library has minimal resources for all 18 elementary teachers to share and so your donation will provide for many and for many years. Thank you for this gift, I cannot say Thank You enough!”

Classroom Library Project
Funded Oct 2, 2012I am writing this small thank you to let you know that we are putting your donation to valuable use everyday! When other teachers, administration, student and parents walk into our classroom, they can see the value of reading. The blue sorters are used to categorize our books into different genres so that the students can easily find a book they will enjoy and also put it back in the right place.
Our revolving book stand is the biggest hit in the classroom. Students who choose books from the library are able to write a review and place that book on the revolving bookstand as a recommendation for others to read. I have seen students work hard in their reviews to persuade others to read a certain book. Persuasive writing is a skill that students are encouraged to practice and be able to identify. This revolving bookstand is more than a fancy showcase; it allows my students to interact with each other, sharing the love of books and incorporating writing in the process.
Our charter school was originally a 6-12 grade level campus. We are in our second year with Elementary and our school library is still yet not equip with books for our students. Your donation has made my classroom library something marvelous and enjoyable for my students and we thank you.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Briseno
