We are near the Washington,D.C. area. Our students come from South American countries, Napal, European countries, and Arabic countries mostly. Some of our students were born in the U.S.A. and some have immigrated due to varying circumstances.
The families are hard working, many of them working 2 jobs. Students struggle to learn English since many parents are just learning also.
The children are eager to learn and celebrate their accomplishments! Many, those from the war torn countries, are learning that they are safe in our school. One student, at first, hid under the desk to do his work. In his country, they did this for safety due to threat or bombings and such. Now, this boy is thriving and his mom is one of the translators in our school system.
