Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Lunar New Year!
Funded Jan 11, 2025Thank you so much for your generous donations! My students were so excited and their faces lit up when they walked in and saw everything. Not only did they have so much fun, but they learned about another culture and holiday that they may have never heard of otherwise.
The students listened to the story and we had a discussion about it. They then created their lanterns and received their scratch offs, coins, red envelopes, and chocolate coins. They were so in awe over everything!
Thank you so much again! You brought smiles to their faces! (And mine)”
With gratitude,

Funded May 24, 2024You cannot begin to understand how grateful we all are for your contributions. When our packages started to roll in, (we are waiting for a few more) the children's eyes lit up and they began to cheer. It is magical to see your students so happy.
The kids built the most amazing creations, worked on problem solving, learned that sometimes things don't go exactly as planned, worked together, and most importantly HAD FUN!
I began by having the students explore in their own to have some fun, although so am working on creating some STEAM projects to go along with using the Magnatiles! Thank you so much again!”

Mrs. Bermudez

Funded Aug 2, 2023I cannot begin to thank you for your donations! I have staff members coming into my classroom in awe and the look on the student's faces when they came in on the first day was priceless! They are so engaged and excited to learn each day.
The students now have a comfortable spot to read and learn each day with the tent and the rug. The bulletin boards are ready to showcase all of their hard work. The light covers keep a calm room working environment. They love looking for their name on the door each day and can't wait to put their work on the outside bulletin board. Finally the light projector is calming and plays music while they work.
I am truly so excited for this year! Thank you again!”

Funded Sep 17, 2019What an impact your donation has made to my classroom! This is my thirteenth year of teaching and I have never seen children more excited to read and get to work! When the boxes arrived in our classroom, and the materials were unpacked, their faces lit up with excitement. They were eager to all take turns to use all of the materials and to sit on the comfortable flexible seating.
Every day for reading, the children participate in buddy reading after independent reading and they all get to rotate to sit on the flexible seating. They are so calm and focused while reading and they follow our motto of buddy reading: elbow to elbow, knee to knee, book in the middle. It has made such a difference in terms of motivation for my students. Additionally, on Fridays we do something called "Flashlight Friday" in which we turn off the lights, pull down the shades, and the children find a comfy spot, a partner, and a fun book to read. They are then given flashlights and they read by the light of the flashlight. They absolutely love it and they look forward to it every week. These are their favorite activities, although they use them for all subject areas. The lap desks are super helpful for when we have work to do that requires something to lean on and we don't want to sit at our desks. Using the flexible seating allows my first graders to have a change of pace from sitting all day at their desks and they need this movement. Thank you so much for allowing that to happen for them!
It is my goal to one day have all flexible seating in my room, and to maybe even get rid of the desks. We are in a different time now where our students need to move and they are full of energy. A future project that I would love to have is more flexible seating. Additionally, I would love to have center activities funded. This would help them to read and work on their comprehension. This is such an important skill for first graders.
Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts and we are so lucky to have such amazing people to care for our future!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Bermudez
