I work in Illinois in an inner-city public school. My students are Hispanic. The area I work in is considered low income. All of the students have free breakfast and lunch. The students are low academically, and some struggle with reading and math. They are very sweet children. They require a lot of hand holding and guided instruction. I spend a lot of time modeling, so I can explain to the students what they will do, so when they go back to their table they are ready to work and participate in their learning activities.
