  • Genoa's Math Club

    I would like to thank you for allowing me to obtain ten of the following games: Connect Four, Battleship, and Dominoes. Thus far, they have been used in the classrooms to assist the children in acquiring critical thinking skills; as well as allowing them to learn addition in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The teachers have been checking the games out and using them as a reward for their children too! It is great to know that the children are being actively engaged in board games that they love and they are learning and socializing with each other.

    In the future, I would like to obtain more board games so that I can implement an after school math club. I am thinking of Mancala, Othello, and Monopoly. This will assist the children with critical thinking, counting, addition, subtraction, and real life situations that will also help them to build their social skills!

I am a Peer Facilitator, which means that I teach all subjects in grades 1 - 4. I work for a low socioeconomic school that is lacking funding and equipment. Our kids do not have the necessary social skills that they need when they come to us. A math club would assist them with learning math and acquiring social skills too.
