Having a rug will help my students learn in a comfortable reading environment. Not only will lessons take place on the rug but it will give them a place to read books, act out plays and sit on groups. They will talk about learning, lay in a comfortable place and learn! Some have never had access to this before and it would help open up new worlds for them. They will now have a special place to learn and talk. They will have their own spot to go to when they are reading independently, or when we do a shared reading as a class. They are encouraged to bring pillows and stuffed animals from home so it really feels like home.
