My school is located in the inner city and we are mostly African American. We are a very small Title I school and therefore have a very small budget. Unfortunately there is not enough money to update the students' choice time materials like dramatic play, puppets, blocks, and puzzles. We are not ethnically diverse but we do love learning about other cultures and food. Our new favorite lunch day is quesadilla day which most of my students had never heard of until it was served for lunch one day.
We also have big dreams about what we want to be when we grow up. My students quickly learn what college is and we love learning about different jobs. My students enjoy pretending to be veterinarians, botanists, police officers, and chefs.
My students love to have fun and play and it always make me smile when I see them incorporating what we have learned into their play.
