  • Pretty in Color

    Funded Apr 10, 2025

Thank you for the printer. The end of the year is quickly approaching and with that comes end of the year testing and data. Once we complete our testing , we can now print the data in color and analyze it easier. This will help us create classes and small groups for next year.”

    With gratitude,

  • Love of Reading

    Funded Apr 9, 2025

Thank you for the books. I just started getting books for the kids this year and they absolutely love it. There isn't a library walking distance from our school, so the only place for the students to borrow books is from me. They borrow them at lunch and recess, and after school so they have something to read that night. I am so happy these kids love reading. Hopefully it will continue all summer.”

  • Math Mania

    Funded Feb 14, 2025

Thank you for the new math centers. The students loved the geoshape ones with rubber bands. I change out the pictures they make every 2 weeks and the kids love it. The button sort has been good with our English language learners. They are able to sort and then work on the color and shape names in English. The laminating pouches have been very helpful too. I am able to print and make new centers based upon the kids' interested. A favorite one is counting in scattered configurations. I take group pictures of the students, which they love, and then they count the number of students in the pictures and sort them based upon the number.”

  • Go Graphic Novels

    Funded Jan 28, 2025

The graphic novels have been amazing. The students absolutely love them and are constantly asking if I brought books to the cafeteria so they can be read during lunch. The books have been well loved with greasy fingers and milk spills but it doesn't stop the kids from reading them. On the days, I forgot my bag of books, someone always begs to borrow my room keys and get the bag.

Seeing the kids wanted to read books make me so happy. I know it is instilling a love of reading they didn't have before.”

  • New Centers and New Teacher

    Funded Jan 28, 2025

The new centers have made a huge difference in your classroom. The students are now able to work independently for 20 minutes while small groups are pulled. Small groups are very important because it gives students the specialized individual instruction they need. Independent time is just as important because it let's the students practice the skills independent while building social skills.

The students enjoy the alphabet puzzles and the stamp center is great for all of my students. Some practice beginning sounds, some practice ending sounds, and some are ready for short vowels.

This donation has really helped turn this classroom around and the students and I are extremely thankful.”

  • All The Books

    Funded Mar 24, 2025

Thank you for the books. The students have been reading the Dogman books I have so much I needed a second set. They are very popular during lunch time and for long weekends. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid was requested by my 4th graders and they will be so happy a whole set came in. The books will be here in time for spring break and I already have some responsible students who I know can borrow them over spring break.”

  • Teaching Tools

    Funded Mar 24, 2025

Thank you for the materials. With all the learning we are doing, we are going through our materials. The laminator and pouches will help us make new center for independent learning. The dry erase boards and markers will help the students practice their phonics skills and write sentences. All of this will help us prep for the standardized test that is coming up.”

  • Put the Phone Down and Read

    Funded Dec 24, 2024

Thank you for the books. They have been well loved already. The Comic Squad books were given to a third classroom. They choose to read them during their computer time which is much better than them playing mindless games. The Hilo Books have been a huge hit with the boys. I do cafeteria duty for third grade and bring them down for the kids to read during lunch. It not only helps build their fluency but it is also keeping the kids out of trouble because they are busy reading instead of fighting or running around the cafeteria. Tryouts and The Squad have been great too. We have a cheer team at our school and those girls love the books. The main character in the book is half White and half Asian and gets teased a lot for being Asian but handles it well. While the majority of our school is Black, we are getting more Hispanic students and I think this books provides the students with insight on how to treat others.”

  • 95% Phonics

    Funded Dec 20, 2024

Thank you for the phonics materials. We used it in small groups and the students are able to segment words and see and hear each individual sound. The tiles are color coded so the student learns the different vowel sounds. The r-controlled tile is gray and then the students change the tile for the appropriate spelling. It helps a lot with learning the difference between "spark" or "spork" or "male" and "mail." As the students become more comfortable and fluent with reading and spelling, they are becoming much faster readers during our weekly one minute timed test. Your donation is a great asset to our small group learning time.”

  • Resilient Readers

    Funded Feb 7, 2025

Thank you for the books. We are starting new reading groups next week and the new magnetic boards will be used right away! The Dogman books are going to be loved so well which I am excited about. I myself have never read them so I am excited to read them to and make connections with the kids.”

My school is located in the inner city and we are mostly African American. We are a very small Title I school and therefore have a very small budget. Unfortunately there is not enough money to update the students' choice time materials like dramatic play, puppets, blocks, and puzzles. We are not ethnically diverse but we do love learning about other cultures and food. Our new favorite lunch day is quesadilla day which most of my students had never heard of until it was served for lunch one day. We also have big dreams about what we want to be when we grow up. My students quickly learn what college is and we love learning about different jobs. My students enjoy pretending to be veterinarians, botanists, police officers, and chefs. My students love to have fun and play and it always make me smile when I see them incorporating what we have learned into their play.
