Dual Language Makes Us Especial!
Funded Nov 27, 2023I and my students want to give a big THANK YOU for supporting our classroom projects. The resources will go a long way, with our Dual Language program this school year and for more school years to come.
The Spanish reading games, books, and manipulatives are valuable resources in supporting the development of children's native language as they bridge into English listening, speaking, reading and writing. My students were elated with the resources, ready to delve into learning with so much excitement!”

Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you for your generous support! The materials we received were vastly enjoyed by my all of my students, and helped to further cement the social-emotional bonds that we've established in our classroom.
These materials supplemented our kindergarten programs, and will be of tremendous value with the new class to come this coming school year. I appreciate the support in funding my project more than words can say. So from the bottom of my heart, as well as the children and their families, thank you so very much!”

Hands on, Happy Hearts, Growing Minds
Funded Mar 1, 2022Thank you so very much for your support. The materials, such as the wikkisticks, the play dough, and the calendars helped students with activities that made literacy lots of fun! Children looked forward to using their fine motor skills to make letters and words with both the play dough and the wikkisticks, and the calendar helped children practice skills such as recognizing the sequence of days, months, and numbers. It was a great project that kept children engaged over a period of a couple of weeks.
We couldn't have done this without your support. So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making a difference in our classroom!”

Funded Jan 10, 2022Thank you for your support and generosity. My students have benefitted with the new resources by using hands-on games (cards with pictures and text) that allow them to sequence events and use oral language to describe the cards in order. They feel independent and proud of their accomplishments.
In addition, the new alphabet books we have in our received supports my students' growth as they enjoy books with beautiful photographs that makes connections between letters, sounds and images.
These materials have enriched our dual language program, giving the children the resources they need to continue expanding their bilingual horizons. It has been a wonderful resource in our dual language program. Thank you so much for making a difference, it is much appreciated!”

Am I Bilingual? Claro Que Si!
Funded Sep 11, 2021The materials that were funded have had a positive and invaluable impact in my classroom and in my lesson planning. My classroom is a dual language program, and as such, students need rich resources to supplement their oral language experiences. Children have enjoyed building the cat & dog wood puzzle, which has bilingual text on each side of the puzzle piece. As they build on phonic skills, the text helps them to read color words in both English and Spanish. The Bright Start Spanish Read Aloud Book Set, and Classic Tales Bilingual Books have supplemented the materials that I have in English, providing a positive impact in my classroom as children practice their translanguaging skills with teacher and classmates. The Bilingual Book of Rhymes, Songs, & Stories has been an asset in my planning, enabling me to easily find rhymes throughout the school year; I write selected rhymes on sentence strips or chart paper, combining auditory & visual modalities to support all children. Using songs to explore language is an age appropriate challenge that students enjoy, as well as listening to the stories, supplementing our language arts curriculum. I hope my donors are able to understand what a tremendous impact they have created in my classroom, by playing a part in supporting my project. Thank you so much in helping my students learn with engaging & exciting resources.”

Funded Feb 3, 2021I need to give a huge thank you for your support in providing my class with resources that have proven to be invaluable! My kindergarten students were thrilled to use the new materials that helped them refine writing skills (the write & wipe lapboards); the chart stand with wheels brought the pocket chart closer to their range of vision, making it easier for my students to use resources I posted for lessons; the Hoberman Sphere totally improved our "brain breaks" by providing a visual as we breathed in and out, to either energize or relax our minds and bodies; the "All About Today" really enhanced our calendar/math/English language art lessons; the student tote bags helped me send materials back & forth much more efficiently, and finally, I really appreciate the organization of the teacher tote bag! I had carefully selected all of these resources, and am ever so grateful to the donors who made this Donors Choose project come to fruition. I am looking forward to using these resources with my next class this coming fall, as they will continue to make a positive impact within my classroom. Thank you so very, very much!!”

Ready to Play to and Learn!
Funded Feb 8, 2021I want to say thank you so very much for supporting the project we needed and appreciate. Through the years, classrooms items need to be replaced, & after much love & enthusiasm that the children use our manipulatives and consumable items, I find ways to keep our classroom exciting, fresh & stimulating. The magna tiles help young minds explore with endless possibilities, as well as supporting cooperation when children play together. The dramatic play capes help reinforce concepts we've learned in class, such as honesty or fairness; and what a fun way to do it, superhero style! The laminating pouches will preserve special projects that will forever remind them of their time in kindergarten, such as a student created book marker that will last for many years to come. And we can do this all thanks to your support. Again, I appreciate the support more than words can express. I strive to do my best as a kindergarten teacher, and with the generosity of donors, my goals become a reality. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Garcia
The Key to Success is Kindness
Funded Apr 29, 2021As you know, kindergarten sets the foundation in academic achievement. But it also can, and should, set the groundwork towards becoming a good, kind, compassionate citizens. Although the children come to school with the love they've received at home, school is a new environment for most, and stories about kindness, like the ones you helped us procure, sets that tone. Reading the stories out loud, followed up by meaningful discussions and casual conversations nurtures that goal. Children learn to reflect on their own behavior and how it impacts others, as well as how to express their own feelings and know that they are all valid. Thank you for helping me create a warm, embracing and supportive environment that is respectful and inclusive. My students are the better for it, as is our community, and by extension, our world.”

Funded Mar 5, 2020The books we received were huge hits. I know my students enjoy story time, but they asked to hear these stories time and time again! Children love hearing stories about home, it makes them feel safe and accepted. I love knowing that our classroom is a supportive environment where children and their families, from all walks of life, are valued and respected. These books create a positive by sharing words and images that that inspire kindness. Another positive impact are the the conversations that open up after reading one of the various books we received. My colleagues also appreciated being able to read the stories to their students, amplifying the impact on even more students.
These books and others--such as books about families of diverse backgrounds, such as families within the LGBTQ community, immigrants, families of color, or children with incarcerated family members, are essential in a classroom. They help let children know that their experience is shared, they are not alone. They are valued. They are are supported. They are welcome.
Whether it be a shared read aloud experience, or children quietly reading and perusing the illustrations, there is great value in providing this resource to our children.”

Ms. Garcia

Funded Mar 27, 2018If only you could've been there to see and hear the excitement the children displayed at the pleasure of having a new listening center. They wanted to listen the stories over and over, and one boy in particular wanted to be the "listening center expert", helping his peers in stopping and playing the various CDs I had bought to compliment our new classroom acquisition.
Thank you for your kind support. I look forward to adding more books on CD for the learning enjoyment of this and other classes to come. I appreciate this donation more than words can say as it is an essential piece of equipment in any elementary grade classroom. Your generosity in selecting our classroom is much appreciated, thank you 100 times!”
