Coding to Cross the Digital Divide!
Funded Nov 29, 2016My students are thrilled to be coding using Codesters. The program makes learning how to write python code easy. Students are excited to use it and figure out how to make things happen by writing code. In our classroom Codesters is used as an enrichment tool to stretch thinking for students. Coding creates relevant logic puzzles for today's learners.
My students are excited to use Codesters. The lessons teach coding in a fun and logical progression that is easy for children to follow and understand. They are thrilled when they figure something out and each level gives them a new sense of accomplishment.
My highest achieving students, the early finishers have been the most excited to have this new challenge in our classroom. They are tackling each challenge and cannot wait to get back on and continue. Coding teaches so many skills for students and Codesters does it in a fun and self-motivating environment.
Thank you for your support of learning and enrichment in my classroom. Access to this program has changed the outlook of many of my students and it is wonderful to hear them say they are coders!”

3Doodler for 3 Dimensional Learning!
Funded Mar 25, 2015Thank you for your generous support of learning at Macdonough School. The 3Doodler is a great way to keep kids excited about learning and creating. With it they can create almost anything they can imagine.
Students are thrilled to have the opportunity to use the 3Doodler. It is such a great tool to create and learn with. We have used the 3Doodler to create objects for bulletin boards, make representations for book reports, students created 3 dimensional geometric figures and we even repaired a student's pair of glasses.
This resource has helped students imagine new ways of demonstrating what they learn. They have fun and the interactive creative aspect of using this helps reinforce learning.
Thank you again for giving me a tool that sparks students' imaginations and gets them excited to learn.”

S.O.S.!! (Solar Offers Sustainability)
Funded Jun 19, 2015I want to thank you for your generous support for our school's STEM program. Students are so excited to use these hand on kits to extend learning in the classroom. They were so excited to try their knowledge of circuits out and to make projects that are powered by the sun. They could hardly wait to try out the kits.
These resources are being used to teach students the basics of circuits and electricity. With these hands on manipulatives students are able to discover for themselves how circuits work. They are also able to discover how electricity is generated and the basics of sustainable energy. Students are so excited when they realize they can make a bulb light or fan run without any other energy source other than the sun
Hands on learning increases understanding and mastery and these resources make it easy for students to connect their learning to the real world.
Thank you again for your commitment to meaningful learning.”

Funded Nov 10, 2014I want to thank you for making it possible for our school to get these valuable teaching tools. They are already having an impact on learning in the classroom.
Students are thrilled to use the Osmo Play to learn. They use words like awesome, wow, and great to describe learning with these amazing tools. They are engaged and excited to learn and once they start, they do not want to stop. Kindergarten students are using the Osmo to learn their letters and spell short words. Other classes are using them for vocabulary and spelling. Everyone that uses it agrees that it makes learning more fun.
The Osmo give students a place to work independently on words, shapes, and other things. It keeps students engaged by making learning game like. The tactile experience of handling tiles helps reinforce the learning for students. Older students can also use it to create spelling and vocabulary games. It is a great way to improve their understanding and literacy.
Thank you again for your generous donation and supporting learning at Macdonough School.”

STEM Learning With the LittleBits Electronics Space Kit!
Funded Aug 5, 2014I want to thank you both for your generosity and supporting STEM learning at Macdonough School. As you know this is a wonderful a wonderful school that gives our students so many opportunities to learn. The STEM program supports learning in a whole new way and the Little Bits Space kit is going to help.
My students were thrilled to explore electricity and circuits with this kit. They were so excited to try it out. The kit allows students to try all types of combinations to explore what circuits can do. They are excited to work with it again and each one chose a project they want to do next. This is a great extension to what the students are doing in the classroom with simple circuits.
This kit will be used both in the talented and gifted program to extend classroom learning and also in an after school program. Students will have a chance to use it to explore how electricity works for us. Little Bits brings our science unit on circuits into the 21st century. Thank you!”

Shaping 21st Century Citizens!
Funded Aug 23, 2014On behalf of the students in my class, please accept our most sincere thanks and appreciation for your generous contribution to our class project.
While students in the fourth grade typically have many wonderful opportunities to read fictional text, they sometimes lack the opportunity to engage in reading activities with non-fiction text. This is where the Time for Kids classroom subscription really comes in handy. Not only are students developing their reading and comprehension skills, but they are also learning about the world they live in.
You are truly making a difference and we appreciate your generosity.”
