  • Closing the Educational Gap

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you for your support . The students were able to add to their English language arts and Mathematical understanding. They were able to work together in groups sharing ideas and explaining their understanding.

The students were able to track their understanding by using the task cards which had comprehension questions in many different genres. They were able to become familiar with the questions stems and understand that each one requires them to look for different information .

The students also used the math manipulatives were able to explain their understanding not only to the teachers but they were able to explain their understanding to their classmates which helped to build confidence to continue to stride. They were so grateful to have the support . Learning has several entry points and the students are continuing to make strides.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Making Math Manageable

    Funded Dec 24, 2019

My students were able to work in groups by using manipulatives. They worked in groups and discussed their thinking. I was very rewarding to not only hear them but to see them define their thinking.

When the students first received the material they were so very excited and could not wait to use them. Each student was able to have their own materials which allowed them to explore independently as well as in groups.

Our next steps are to continue developing their mathematic understanding and continue to build confidence to the level in which they will be comfortably modelling their understanding for the entire class.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Manipulating Clarity in Math

    Funded Dec 3, 2019

Thank you so much for your support. The students were so very excited to have manipulatives. They were able to so their understanding and make the connection between their verbal understanding. To see the students support their thinking and explain to their classmates in groups and pairs was very rewarding. When they first saw the manipulatives they were clearly excited and could not wait to use them. I modelled how to use different manipulative first and then they replied can we try on. It was great experience for them and very rewarding to see.”

  • Reading Bridges the Readers and the World

    Funded Jan 30, 2019

My students have been so eager to read the new books from the donors, it is actually hard to get them to put them down. They have created book buddies and book talks within the class . Students also have been seen taking their books down to lunch and outside to recess.

I have developed a book nook for my students to feel comfortable, it is a good feeling to see the desire of the students grow because of the coziness of their space. Students can be seen daily slipping away into store land. If you walk past you can hear rich conversation about the books.

My students have grown so much, they respect each other and are truly appreciative and I am also appreciative for what it has given my students”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Basic Supplies

    Funded Mar 24, 2018

Technology is an growing development and the students are so eager to use it in their instruction. My students develop inquiry projects based on their subjects of interest. Many students have flourished because the supplies you have sent to us have allow them to create tangible work that they can take away and share.

My students receiving these supplies help them become more interested in the projects that they were working on. Students shared their work and created research guidelines for their peers to follow. Having the ink and paper help the students focus because they wanted to give their all to their work. There is something about watching the students wait for their work to come out of the printer. The smiles were overwhelming and the work was breathtaking.

The funding of this project provided students who had difficulty completing projects and assignment with confidence because it was no longer about their hand writing it became more about the learning and the sharing of the given task. I as well as my students will be enteral grateful for your kindness and generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Students' Work Comes to Life through Print

    Funded Nov 21, 2017

Your supporting my students has made their work come to life. The students are eager to complete their project so that they are placed on display. My students are able to print out their work and share it. I have seen the confidence of my students rise especially in the students that do not necessarily have the best handwriting.

The best part about the new printer is that the students are able to use it responsibly to create work that they can add their portfolios after they have shared it with their peers. Students understand that everything is not to be printed and it serves as proof of their understanding of the task and is a great take away of their work and progression.

All of the students have shown appreciation for the printer /copier , showing that they are happy to be able to share their work clearly and legible. Walking through the classroom and hallways seeing their work displayed on walls is a priceless moment.”

  • Literacy Is The Window To The World; Create The View

    Funded Dec 30, 2016

Thank you so much for allowing my students the opportunity to read books that they would not have ordinarily possessed . When the students opened the boxes the look on their faces were priceless. They were so anxious to read the books. When student read books that they are interested in it helps them build stamina. In our classroom we have students who prefer to read independently and then you have students that read together and share their thinking in literature circles.

When students decided on the text they wanted to read they positioned themselves at tables and they pulled out their reading skills folders and began discussing strategies that can be used it was amazing. Students can use the text to compare and contrast characters. They can analyze the author's craft and look at their content. The students have learned so many skills from September to present time. They have been shown how learned strategies can be applied to any text regardless of content area. We can not thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Twenty-Nine Students Tapping Into Technology

    Funded Sep 16, 2016

Technology connects students to the world around them and allows them to venture into otherwise uncharted areas. In our school students have been able to visit other countries via the computer. Students as second language learners have been able to complete work and translate the information from their native language into english, teachers have been able to input assignments in students' native languages which allows them to be included into the learning process.

The new tablets have added a new spark for the students because as the students are working on the desktop other students are now mobile on the tablets and are able to venture out of the classroom. Students have been able to interview teachers and students as well as capture moments on camera. Students are able to have instant references at their figure tips. Students are able to take ownership of their learning and do not have to wait for teacher directions to complete a task.

The students level of cooperative learning has greatly increased. They are taking roles and discussing their findings, the technology is opening up students to be more participatory. There were some students that were so reserved and to see them working on projects and gathering rich information in itself is rewarding . We could never say thank you enough.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

  • Technology Opens Windows to the World for Students Daily

    Funded Apr 18, 2012

Just to say thank you does not express the extent of my gratitude for your donation to my project. It is nice to know that their are people in the world who share the same vision for student success through the use of technology.

In using the Elmo students are able to bring their work to life and share it whole class. Students are able to function in accountable talk instruction which involves displaying and analyzing their work according to rubrics.

I hope to continue my quest for student understanding using our new addition to technology.

Again we would like to express our deepest gratitude for your donation . We can't wait to share our experience in student learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Williams

My students are eager learners. They are open to new and different styles of learning. Their lights of educational desire flicker when learning becomes an experience instead of a chalked filled task. We are a class compromised of several types of learners. We are an inclusion class where two thirds of the students are general education and one third special education and Second language learners. We are in a high need, high poverty, school with limited technological resources.
