Reading Intervention Tools
Funded Sep 11, 2023Thank you for your generous donations to my reading intervention students. With your donations we were able to receive much needed dry erase markers, phonemic awareness manipulatives, and phonics to manipulatives to keep my students engaged. These tools are very important in reading intervention classrooms because a lot of our students struggle with the manipulation of letters and sounds and having concrete objects to use and manipulate helps them attain the reading skills that they need.
From behalf of myself and my students, we thank you all for your support!”

Funded Aug 21, 2022We are so grateful for your donations to Room 8! The students have been using the materials to practice phonemic awareness and letter-sound correspondence.
My kindergarten through third grade student are using the magnetic ten-frame set to identify the sounds in words and their corresponding letters. My Kindergarten students are using the sand trays to learn letter formation and letter-sound correspondence. My third grade students are using the magnetic letters to learn how to blend words with automaticity.
As a teacher, I have seen how beneficial having these materials for the students to engage with has been. Learning requires multi-modal approaches and you have helped them achieve this!
We are very grateful for you and your support!”

Creating an Environment for Successful Readers
Funded Jan 31, 2012Once again, I'd like to thank everyone who supported my classroom with their generous donations. My students are enjoying using the Nooks every day in the classroom. Your gift has had tremendously positive implications. My students show a love of reading expository texts and nonfiction. I was able to buy them magazines like National Geographic Kids and Time for Kids. They read the new stories every month when they are downloaded and like to share the new things they have learned about animals, foreign places, and current events. My younger students like reading the Dr. Seuss books that I've downloaded. Those books are great because it gives them the option to read the book themselves if they are emergent readers or have the book read to them if they are struggling readers. This option is incredibly beneficial for my struggling readers since the words light up on the screen when they are read aloud. This allows the student to follow along and learn how to read new words. I'm proud to say that along with every day instruction and interesting reading materials in our Nooks, my students have ALL improved their reading fluency scores! Again, thank you so much for making this possible!
