  • We Love Hockey

    Funded Nov 5, 2017

My students are going to be so ecstatic about the foam hockey sticks. As I mentioned in my essay they love the game of hockey but do the safety complex of the hard plastic sticks we were asked to discontinue it until we could get more developmentally appropriate sticks.

Wow, all of donors to this project are tremenous in your caring ways. I cant thank you enough. Thanks for caring about my students educational success.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oneill

  • Empty Equipment Closet

    Funded Nov 5, 2011

With your generosity my students have a gymnasium to call hone. Every time they come to the gymnasium to play your donated equipment provides meaningful learning experiences for all of the students.

As a teacher there is no better feeling to know that my students will have many joyous hours of fun with the equipment you provided. We can not thank you enough. We will remember this for years to come. You will always have a special place in our school community. I hope you feel proud of what you have done for the students of my school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oneill

  • Let Us Play

    Funded Mar 29, 2017

My students will be forever thankful for your generous donation. It is because of people like you, and organizations like Donors Choose that many schools thrive in the time of need.

In my particular case, it will be quite pleasing to see that each one of my students will have one piece of equipment each to develop their skill base in the area of basketball.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oneill

This classroom project was brought to life by ESPN and one other donor.
The students at my school are very eager to learn and try new adventures in their young lives. This past school year I introduced them to the sport of hockey. The sport of hockey was foreign to them because of their socioeconomic relations. The school is located in the South Bronx and the kids in these neighborhoods really only focus on the sport of basketball....which is great but it narrows their exposure to other exciting sports. The hockey sticks I was using with them were fiberglass and to make it more developmentally appropriate for elementary school age children it would be more safe and appropriate to have foam tipped sticks. The students really really loved the game of hockey but due to the current sticks I have I am no longer allowed to use them to teach them such an exciting game such as hockey. They are aware of this hiccup in the road and are deeply saddened again because they really took to the game.
