Our school serves grades 6-8 in the Mount Diablo Unified School District. 98% of this school is populated by those who live in the 4-corners area of Concord and speak Spanish as their primary language. This is a Title I school with a high population of English Learners and an even higher population of students living in poverty. Many of them have responsibilities at home like helping their families by watching younger brothers and sisters, shopping and cooking, and cleaning while their parents work. Still, they are captivated by learning and want to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. And, of course, they are much more engaged in learning when it is presented through hands-on projects and activities.

About my class
