  • A Powerful Novel in New Light -The Giver Graphic Novel

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you so much for your donations. The graphic novels opened up a whole new way of looking at literature. Students were engaged in the novel from start to finish! The graphic novel was particularly helpful for my ELL population. The breakdown of chapters, as well as the visuals that went with them, allowed students to better comprehend key concepts of the original novel.

Overall, all student that read The Giver Graphic novel left with a love for the novel and many found a new way to enjoy classic novels.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Monaco

  • Teaching English Through Literature

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

It is with great appreciation that I write this letter. My students have begun to enjoy the various novels that you helped provide and they were automatically intrigued by the novels characters and situations. This would not have been possible without your generous and thoughtful donations. My students are particularly enjoying the books because they are on their level and about topics they are interested in. My newcomers to the English language are particularly enjoying the Spanish language books.

Once again, thank you for your generous donations and for making this year memorable for my student.”

  • Oh The Drama!

    Funded Dec 31, 2012

It is with great appreciation that I write this letter. My students have begun to enjoy the classic play, "A Raisin in the Sun" by Lorraine Hansberry and were automatically intrigued by the novels characters and situations. This would not have been possible without your generous and thoughtful donations. My students are particularly enjoying the audio version of the play. They are able to get a better understanding of the characters and hear the feeling behind the words.

Once again, thank you for your generous donations and for making this year memorable for my student.”

    With gratitude,

  • Shakespearian Summer!

    Funded Jul 5, 2012

It is with great appreciation that I write this letter. My students have begun to enjoy the classic play, "A Midsummer NIght's Dream" by William Shakespeare and were automatically transported to the magical settings within the novel. This would not have been possible without your generous and thoughtful donations. My students are particularly enjoying the graphic novels since they resemble a comic book. They are able to have visuals to go with what they are reading. They also make the Shakespearean language easier to understand.

Once again, thank you for your generous donations and for making this year memorable for my student.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Monaco

I teach a diverse and enthusiastic group of 8th graders. They are eager to learn about literature and enjoy reading various genres of books. With the advances in technology, they are more likely to turn on the television than open a book. This year we have read novels that they truly enjoyed and were motivated to read.
