Intervention Needs Technology!
Funded Jan 25, 2018Your donations have helped bring technology to our intervention classroom and we are very thankful! The three chrome books that you helped purchase will be put to good use in helping incorporate technology into our curriculum. Students have already started using them for math fluency and problem solving practice, assessments and goal setting, and test preparation. These computers provide students with an opportunity to practice in centers and with partners using online strategies and resources. All of my students are working hard to achieve grade level expectations in math. They appreciate your support and generosity!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The First Million Fund and 5 other donors.Hands-On Centers for Math Intervention Students
Funded Sep 2, 2017My students are enjoying the math center resources that you helped purchase for my classroom. They would happily work with them everyday and strive to finish their classwork so they have time to use the materials. The centers focus on adding real-life situations to math problem solving and it keeps them engaged and motivated to find the answers.
The material are very bright and colorful, so when the students saw them arrive they were excited to open up the boxes. As they spent time at the centers and got to know the games and activities, they are able to apply the concept knowledge to independent practice.
We will continue using the materials for years to come!”

Hands-on Centers for Math Intervention Students
Funded May 25, 2016My students are busy every week using the math centers. They are exploring elapsed time, counting money, measuring with recipes, ordering from a menu, travel math and much much more. These math centers have added fun learning to our day! They bring real life math experiences to the classroom. Some of the students favorites involve service flyer's for neighborhood jobs, brochures, schedules, maps, receipts and room layouts. The areas they support are operations, measurement, geometry and time. Students look forward to having time to use the centers, and they work extra hard to finish classwork in order to use them. Your contribution is much appreciated by all of us.”

Multi-Media Madness
Funded Dec 18, 2011I would like to thank you for your generous donation to help us receive a new laptop for our classroom. Your commitment to helping the students in our community is sincerely appreciated.
The goal of our classroom is to have every student meet their AR reading goals every trimester. This laptop gives more students the opportunity to quiz everyday. It creates more opportunity for students to take quizzes without waiting. We also use it for Read Naturally, a computer-based program that helps students read with greater fluency. In addition, students will be using it for research for written pieces and unit of inquiry projects. Thank you again for helping us gain important resources for our classroom. ”

Launch into Literacy!
Funded Dec 31, 2011My students and I are so thankful to each of you for your generous donations to my project. It's been fabulous seeing my students learning from these new materials. The literacy materials help me to fill in the gaps of reading skills and strategies for my students. I am able to use them for center and guided reading work depending on student needs.
Without you, we would not have access to such fun and engaging supplemental literacy resources. Donors like you play a vital role in classrooms today, and the money you give is appreciated more than you know!
Thank you so much!”

Inquiring Minds Want to Know!
Funded Oct 23, 2011I am thankful for the generous donation each of you made to my donorschoose project. We are using the materials for literacy center work and guided reading lessons in reading intervention. These resources are helping my students improve their fluency, comprehension of non-fiction texts, use of reading strategies during independent reading, and increased quizzing on non-fiction books. I have enjoyed presenting them with high-interest, colorful, and engaging passages that focus on a specific reading strategy during guided reading.
For my groups of students struggling with reading, their ability to apply reading strategies independently is a vital factor in their future academic success. Your support has provided my students with resources to help them achieve their reading goals.
