I have about 80 students with a little over 70 of them being seniors and the remaining few juniors. They attend a charter school that aims to be science-oriented but lacks the resources to make this the reality of the school. Attending a Title 1 school, my students face challenges both in and out of the classroom but find ways to rise above them and come to school everyday knowing and believing in the opportunities a good education can bring them. They are aspiring engineers, politicians, artists, doctors, musicians, and more. Their dreams are limitless and every day I feel honored for the opportunity to not only teach these students, but learn from them as well. Their concerns are that they have not yet been provided the environment where their creativity and curiosity can flourish. Some are the first in their family to go to college and they do not yet feel prepared for the next big step. Through our year together, I intend to ensure that none feel that way on their graduation day.
