Learning on the Go.
Funded Jan 1, 2021Thank you so much for your support this year. We had a year that changed often and quickly. We would get an announcement one day and the next school as we know it was changed. "40% of your assigned children are coming back face to face tomorrow. The class can go to recess but they must wear mask and have their own toys, or tools. They can not share." Part of my project was to get items that they could use to discover and learn on their own to share with the whole class. You helped provide hand held micro scopes for individuals to use at recess. "WONDERFUL"
Another message we received several times was " a confirmed case of Covid has been reported. We will be learning from home for the next___ few days. Our project provided items for each child to take home to continue learning. Something as simple as a handheld pencil sharpener, dry erase markers and individual plastic sleeves to practice daily skills were huge helps.
Thank you so much for providing materials to keep my students learning.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Kale

Funded Jul 27, 2020We are one to one student to device thanks to you. Our school has enough devices to pass out to about 80% of out 1,250 Elementary students. Thanks to you my amazing sponsors/donors my class reached 100%. After having 2 grants fully funded and receiving 5 new chrome books, every child assigned to my classroom has a device. The students who are using the new devices are overjoyed to have a wonderful new Chrome Book to connect online. Even though many students have returned to the school building we are still using technology daily for instruction. Students carry their device back and forth from home to school each day. When I have office hours for our online students my in-person students use their devices to continue with our many online enrichment and remedial programs. Some days, I think the in class students are counting down the minutes until it is time for the virtual student's small groups. When I work in small groups with the virtual students the in-person students get to use their devices to complete assignments.
This school year has been a great challenge. However, thanks to technology we are still learning. We can stay connected even when one or more of us are quarantined. Due to the need to stay socially distant even when in the same classroom, small group instruction has become challenging. We can meet and interact via computer and work on individual skills. Students can record themselves reading their stories and play it back to hear their progress. I am also able to listen to their recordings and better understand how to help them improve their reading. Students are learning to use google docs to write their pen pal letters to the Junior League. We are working hard to learn more and continue this program that due to social distancing would not be possible without technology.
Two of our students that are learning from home can join daily and take part in our school day as they are using two of the devices. They can work on google documents in real time with the rest of the class. Connect to our enrichment programs and take participate via TEAMS. These devices are amazing, some of my students are using school chrome books or laptops that have missing keys or the microphone does not always work.
These new devices work wonderfully and because the children know they are brand new and bought especially for them they are so careful and responsible when using them or taking them back and forth from home to school. One little girl carried it back and forth in the original box for the first week, until she was able to get a bag for it. Thank you so much for loving my students so well.”
