Refreshed for Spring!
Funded Mar 9, 2016On behalf of my students and I, we would like to thank you for your generous contribution to our project, which helped us to refresh and brighten up our classroom.
My students were surprised and shock to see their new seat sacks and learning supplies. Our new batch of dry-erase markers and clear-view pocket sleeves have helped us to better interact with various texts, and has help my students to identify key details as they read. It has also helped them during small group discussion, where they research, discuss and identify text evidence related to their informational writing pieces.
Your donation is very much appreciated, and has helped to support my students and their continual learning.”

Bringing Science To Life
Funded Feb 4, 2016On behalf of my students and I, we would like to thank you for our new Science materials and resources. As I introduced my class to their Science unit on plants, I had continued to build up their excitement for their new unit by explaining that we have some very special people, who thought our learning was important, and had helped our class to get some special tools and resources.
It was wonderful to watch my students' eager eyes glow, as that they explored their new science journals. As we worked through our various exploration lessons, they were so happy to have a journal with question prompts to help guide them through their scientific thinking and note-taking. The planter bags have been used to help students measure and observe their plants as they grow, while our new texts has helped students learn more about our thematic units.
We still have so much to learn, and your generous donation has helped to bring out the scientists in my students, as they actively engage in their scientific investigations.”

Funded Aug 22, 2015Thank you for your generous donations that has helped us to purchase Time for Kids and Scholastic News magazine subscriptions, that have been used to support our literacy unit on non-fiction texts. My students have been busy bees, exploring text features and their purposes, as well as discovering the author's purpose. With online subscription access, we have shared discussions, watched videos connected to our weekly articles, and have played skill games. Families have also been given online access to help them engage in reading and learning with their children.”

The Right Tools Build an Awesome Reader
Funded Dec 31, 2014On behalf of my class and I, we'd like to thank you so much for your generous donations that helped our class establish a listening center for 2 small groups. Our class eagerly unpacked, explored, and sorted the various books and CDs they were going to interact with.
In class, we've used the books to introduce and support guided reading strategies. After some practice with the books, students would sit in small groups to listen to the books, as they build upon their reading fluency.
My students continue to grow and develop as readers, and your contribution greatly assisted us in obtaining valuable materials and resources, that would not have been possible without your support.”

Growing Our Love 4 Reading
Funded Nov 25, 2014On behalf of my class and I, we'd like to thank you so much for your generous donations that helped our class get subscriptions to both Scholastic News and Time for Kids, as well as, additional resources to support sight word work with our lower performing students.
In class, we've used the magazines to help support essential reading and writing skills. Students have been working on determining the main idea of a text, and locating the supporting details, in preparation of their own nonfiction writing pieces.
Your contribution assisted us in obtaining valuable resources, that would not have been possible without your generous support.”

Funded Aug 26, 2014My second graders have been so excited receiving their new resources and materials. They eagerly watched as my co-teacher and I opened the boxes and introduced them to their new literacy center, additional classroom materials, and our new reading pillows.
Our new reading pillows have helped made partnership and small group work more comfortable, while our new pocket chart organizer has helped to organize students' task papers, as well as, encouraged student independence. Our new centers are continuing to support the work we are doing in phonics and in our overall literacy work.
From all of us in our 2nd grade class, we are so grateful that you chose our project to fund.”

Creative Writing Starts with the "Write" Tools
Funded Aug 26, 2014I wish you could have been there to see the excitement and anxiousness my students expressed when our materials arrived. They were so excited to use their new book baggies, and to learn that they had an additional one for them to borrow books to read at home with their families. They were in awe to learn that we had "special" writing folders and writing tools to help us become "awesome" story writers.
My students have eagerly used the dry-erase markers to complete and solve math problems on their new dry-erase table tops. This has greatly helped with student independence, engagement, and partner work. Your generous donation has helped provide additional, as well as, much needed learning tools and resources that has enhanced these students' learning experience in 2nd grade.”

Off to a Successful Start!
Funded Sep 8, 2013Words can't express the excitement my students have shown in the resources you have helped provide for our class. The materials have been used to help organize and keep students on task, while building independence.
The privacy partitions have helped students in staying more focused on their tests and tasks. The individual timers have helped students set reading goals and build their stamina in reading and writing. The magnetic sentence mat has helped students in visually learning how to organize work in their notebooks. Parents were also eager for their children to enjoy the use of the book baggies, as students borrowed books from our classroom's lending library to share reading experiences at home.
The resources have been a wonderful help, and has truly helped us get "off to a successful start".”

Growing Successful Readers
Funded Jan 29, 2013I'd like to thank you for the AWESOME materials that have made reading more enjoyable for my students. Since the receipt of our new materials, students are more comfortable reading on the rug with their partner, while using their new reading pillows to share ideas about their books. They have also become more organized in class and at home. They've been using their more durable book baggies to store their independent reading books and reading logs while at school, and have used their book buddy baggies for books they borrow to read at home.
The new set of colored dry-erase markers and individual board erasers have also been greatly appreciated. Students are quick to snatch up a marker and board to jot down ideas they want to share with fellow classmates.
Your generosity has brought so many smiles to my students' faces, literacy - rich discussions between partners, and a super, happy and proud teacher of growing readers.”

Math-tastic Learning!
Funded Aug 16, 2012On behalf of my class, I would like to express my extreme gratitude for your generous donations, which has helped contribute to the smiles and enthusiasm for learning that has come to my scholars. My scholars have used the various math materials to practice the lessons my co-teacher and I teach. As we circulate our classroom, listening in on small group and/or partnership conversations, we hear their excitement and notice how engaged they are in their
math-centered games and activities.
Although the materials have been used for various math related games, they have served a greater purpose of being a support to their learning. Despite their different learning styles and varying academic levels, your support has helped my scholars gain a better understanding of math, while increasing their confidence in practicing concepts taught.”
