My students are in their second year of an intensive reading program and we are in need of higher leveled reading books because they have raised their reading levels so much! This is not an easy task and a great accomplishment. However, I do not have enough books that they can take home to support this growth. My students are excited, energetic readers who are so eager to keep reading high interest books. Yes, we do have some books in our classroom but it's simply not enough. Currently, I have three sets of the Percy Jackson series that are all checked out and I have a waiting list of students who can't wait to check them out next. I'm requesting a variety of boxed book sets including Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Harry Potter, The Maze Runner, The Heroes of Olympus, Divergent, The Hunger Games and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Getting these high interest reading books will help encourage my students to keep reading! They do not have access to these books because we do not have a school library and adding them to my classroom library will give them an opportunity to explore and expand their imaginations beyond the classroom.
